The staff grew larger this generation and the main decissions have been TPC territory for some years now. It's like Masuda (and Tajiri/Sugimori) are more irrelevant each day.
If anything, their work consists on getting the "inspiration" of new regions. This is done by travelling around the world and having nice holidays. Is this "inspiration" really a valuable addition to a series that has such bland overworlds and games more linear with every entry?
They dont touch the meta and know nothing about it, they are not the ones who design the monsters anymore (Sugimori makes only a few), Tajiri does literally nothing. Literally. Look at the credits of any modern Pokémon game.
