Same here. I'm pretty low on the ladder at the minute though, so there we go.

For other Pokemon, mine tend to be mid tier in usage? I've only seen one other Liepard so far. Mega Gardevoir also seems to be falling a bit in use in favor of some easier to use megas.

I fought Markus Stadter yesterday and he's using one with Protect, Heat Wave, Flash Cannon and Substitute.
For the EV Spread... you should know that to give you one, you have to tell us your team, so we can help you... you can start with 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 Spe, though.

They have sets up for smog doubles which is close to VGC.

I'm not saying copy and paste spreads, I'm just saying read about the sets because they're very precise and hell of a lot better than your all 252 spreads.

You should run mixed imo. Mixmence is the best in vgc, since return is so spammable even with low investment and Draco is powerful as fuck, and even after dropping a nuke you can still stay in and pick off things with return.
+Speed is very important for mence unless you run dd, if you run Max speed but no +speed nature you miss out on outspeeding raikou, mega Luke, Max speed variants of Thundurus, M - Metagross, Gengar, the latis, infernape, and terrakion. Please run Max speed and +speed.

Means you're faster than Rotom, Bisharp, Heatran, Togekiss, Tyranitar and whole boat load of mons hanging around in the middling tiers. There's a lot going on below 100, it's not all crazy fast.
If you're really worried about it though run it on a Tailwind team.

Agree with >>22459786 I've done really well with mix M-Mence, but run Double-Edge instead. It really packs a hit even without any attack investment. It also lets me run Draco Meteor with less fear of the Sp.Atk drop. It's really nice.

Why Thundy t? Thundurus i is better in almost every way.

Either way, it depends on your team. HP ice is better against the most common threats, but hp flying is ok stab and deals better with the grass types. Which of these give you the most problems?

I only just brewed up that team so I haven't actually had the chance to test it properly.

What I figured was that I was killing everything with Hyper Voice anyway, and that I was very, very rarely using other moves. Apart from the toolbox appeal of it, I believe that you can get away with one less slot in favor of getting caught by a sleep effect, then killing them anyway

00 base attack doesn't sound fantastic on paper, but for something with such absurd bulk it's really good. Throw in Drain Punch and you have a real pain for your opponent.

Venusaur's SpA allows it to 2HKO AV Ludicolo.
I too wasn't sure about Primeape and Infernape together but in practice it works pretty well and they have become one of my most common leads, Fake Out helps Primeape getting 2HKOs or taking care of problematic mons for one turn and Quick Guard does nicely against Pranksters, makes sure that Primeape goes first except against opposing faster scarfs and forces Talonflame to use a different move, in many occasions I've been getting pretty much two free turns thanks to Fake Out + Quick Guard against things like Talonflame and Thundurus, I might switch U-Turn for Rock Slide/Stone Edge to take advantage of this.

I consider that Greninja get's a lot of shit but it's actually pretty nice, it kind of struggles with a 4 moveslot syndrome but it can one-shot so many important meta threats that it's not even funny and has amazing speed, perma STAB plus LO make neutral hits harder than they seem too.

Primeape is the only Defiant mon that also has Ice Coverage nad is able to outspeed Lando 100% of the time with scarf since it has higher base speed. It also takes care of mences and actually enjoys the intimidate. It deters the use of intimidate leads and even then they don't matter that much when I lead the Ape-Ape combo because one gets +1 and the other one is mixed offensive support. Also +1 Close Combat hits really hard.

I like Primeape but I wouldn't be using without a good reason and I consider that it works pretty well against the current meta when scarfed. I just read in this thread that it was used but I have no idea where.

The thing is that Infernape has a faster Fake Out and that Overheat which is important since it's not entirely physical and is my only special fire attack, whic can dent Amoonguss and one-shot Mawiles. It also hits hard enough to weaken or finish off weakened foes even when intimidated.

Quick Guard is in the same priority bracket as Fake Out, so a faster QG allows you to stop a slower FO while a slow QG user will just get flinched or will fail to protect its partner.

Against Sylveon it's always a problem because that Hyper Voice is just retarded, most of the time I can't allow myself to just switch in something since even resisted/neutral hurts bad. Offensively I shouldn't have so many problems, I can flinch it ald pick the 2HKO with Primeape's Gunk Shot, Greninja's is a OHKO and Venusaur wins when trading blows, it's just easy for a Sylveon to catch my team in a bad position to get easy damage and that's what troubles me.

Not the guy you asked but i've used AV Regirock a bit;

Rock Slide / Stone Edge / Bulldoze / Drain Punch.

S-Edge gives a guaranteed OHKO on even the bulkiest of Zard Y's and also gets around Wide Guard. I think it 2hkos MegaMence too.

Bulldoze is just for utility in the form of speed control, and the team I have him on is very levitate/flying heavy (it hits everyone on the field).

Okay now it makes more sense why it doesn't seem to pull it's weight. AV Hariyama really doesn't fit this kind of team setup. The only fighter which can pull off AV properly is Conkeldurr.

As for something which can contend with M-Khan that is a tad difficult.

Spec Hydreigon was popular because it did just that but ORAS Khan's have been cutting down on speed and going bulkier. I suppose there is Mienshao but it's suited for more offensive fast paced teams.

Some other alternatives I think you could look into is Lucario, Terrakion and Infernape if you're intent on something to kill it. The alternative is to just try render Khan useless by running a ghost of some sort like Gengar.

I'm definitely not giving up air slash, paraflinching is just too good. I had protect over dazzling gleam but I didn't find many instances where I would prefer to keep Toge alive instead of just using Follow me.

I'm gonna try Infernape, though it shares some common weaknesses with Heatran. Not using Terrakion nor Lucario because they share too many weaknesses with my team, and Kanga can ohko both of them with Low kick if I happen to mispredict or I get predicted.

I started with singles and was strictly sticked to singles, then around 10 months ago I tried out dubs and had more fun than I did in singles.
Once I figured out how actually in depth the doubles meta was (not saying singles isn't), I jumped into the realm of specified spreads and different way of team synergy, and I just loved it.
I still do play smogon OU/Uber but definitely not as much.

As to what I think is a **better** format, I have to say doubles. The amount of bans Smogon has to do just to keep the singles meta going shows this (again, not attacking anyone).

By nature of the Doubles format you don't have to carry as much coverage as possible like in Singles. You effectively have 6-7 moveslots between the two Pokemon in play. It's not unusual to sometimes see Doubles sets with only 1 or 2 attacks each because they spread their coverage between each other.

Setup sweepers don't function well in Doubles due to them having to risk taking 2 attacks a turn. Singles is prone to a setup sweeper creating a snowball effect and destroying your entire team uncontested.

Heavier emphasis on speed control due to moves like Icy Wind, Trick Room, T-Wave really wrecking your day when you have 2 opponents and some hitting everyone.

Less hazards because there is far less opportunities to switch due to offensive pressure causing stall situations to rarely happen.

Protect is important in Doubles because effectively if you can predict/force situations where they have to gang up on one Pokemon. A simple protect can waste their entire turn and give your partner a free attack to take out a threat. Meaning matchups are less set in stone and good play matters more.

Pachirisu was a gimmick. Doubles is like an entirely different game. You need to consider new movesets, new strategies, all of it.

For example, while smogon bird is still viable, entry hazards aren't. Things like fake out, taunt, t-wave, and protect are more common than in singles, and you can't get away with 252/252/4 on everything like you can in singles

EV spread need a little tweaking , for instance Scizor has 40 Atk and 216 SpD, Both are divisible by 8 which at lv50 on a 31 IV stat is a waste of 4 evs. You could move 4 EVs from either one on to the other and get a free point.

Talonflame can't setup due to the presence of Rock Slide and and general frailty with Electric types (Rotom-W/H and Thundurus-I in particular) being quite common. It's more common for it to run support options such as Tailwind, Quick Guard or Taunt.

Greninja would prefer Protect over Spikes, hazards as a whole see very little usage due to the lower amount of pokes in play and subsequent infrequency of switching. Gren would also enjoy having Gunk Shot or Low Kick for an option to KO or severally dent common mons such as Sylveon, Bisharp and Kangaskhan.

Scizor and it's mega aren't that bad, especially the SD sets. You will need partners to handle common Heatwave carriers such as Zapdos, Heatran, CharY and M-Camerupt as well as Rotom-H. Probably best to have Protect over Roost as well but both can work well.

Man, I've been running Rizzo ferrothorn because I was having problems with rotom wash, and it's just fucking depressing. I used to not even consider fighting as a weakness because there weren't very many strong fighting types out there, but the other day I got oneshotted by terrakion, and low kick kanga does 70-80%. In general, should I be running 2 Supports, 2 Physical Sweepers, and 2 Special Sweepers? I get the impression this is a 'safe' number, but I also get the sense that there are more Physical Sweepers in the meta. Obviously teams that are dependent on a central strategy such as Trick Room are much more reliant on that move, and so may be more likely to run 2 Supports rather than 1. Most teams I've played against on showdown lead with a Support+1, then swap the support out when they have locked down one of my Pokemon.
I want to understand how to build a team so that I can get away with using 'worse' pokemon while still winning somewhat consistently. I would rather learn than win, though.

HP Grass is actually fucking pointless it does the EXACT same damage as a neutral Dark Pulse minus the chance of flinching.

Pokemon can be support even by dealing chip damage, don't forget that. The frailer mons can usually run support moves just as well (quick guard/tailwind/wow on tflame for example). I just build my team depending on what it needs, not depending on what a "normal team composition" needs.

Also, pokemon like chansey with absolutely no offensive presence what so ever are considered unconventional and most of the time unviable.

Fair enough. Blissey was very fun to use when it was level 100 6v6, 100 damage Seismic Toss + 720 HP is hard to break through.

I can't really explain specific numbers, which is why I was asking for a website with maths.
Apart from that, I'll do my best to explain why I picked what I did.

HP to give it bulk and sit on the field for a longer time, Speed to outspeed as many flying and dragon types as possible. SpA to boost its damage output and make it worthwhile to use HP or Thunderbolt.

HP for bulk as it's quite fragile. Speed to outspeed other Prankster pokemon and get in a Taunt before they can do anything. SpA for damage output on DG. This was a recommended spread from Showdown.

It is very acceptable, as long as you know what you're doing. Someone on Nuggetbridge wrote a report about a team, where he used both Gyarados and Manectric as his megas. So if he evolved Gyarados, Manectric could back it up with Lightning Rod, and if Manectric evolved, it would mean double Intimidate for the opponent.

With that being said, you can't slap two megas together willy nilly, there has to be something to back the reasoning up. But it's definitely something that can be considered.

I was thinking the other day about how good wide guard aegislash is in the current meta, and how WP might be good on it. Against sylveon for instance, if you suspect they'll go straight for the shadow ball instead of the hyper voice, you can OHKO with a +2 flash cannon. Or against kanga, you can take a sucker punch and OHKO.

It hits surprisingly hard, can get some KOs with Stone Edge and Sacred Fire, burn physical sweepers, and it also complete the fire-water-grass core. It's also really bulky on the physical side.
I think Infernape would do a better job, since it has quick guard for Talonflame and fake out support. But then I wouldn't have a way to cripple Kanga and other threats.

So Regigigas has 110/110/110 defences and a somewhat decent pool of support moves including TWave, Wide Guard and Icy Wind, significantly no Helping Hand though. Hp Ground for Sylveon, protect/Recover/Icy Wind on Milotic. I'd go with Rotom since it's immune to Ground. It seems viable so far, you can even choose Amoonguss to complete the FWG core and rage powder everything away from Sylveon, Aegis and Kanga.

The only niche it really occupies is that you can pair it with Whimsicott and Worry Seed away its Slow Start.

The issue is as soon as the opponent sees this, they'll immediately know what you're going to do, unless they're new to the game. That'll let them get momentum right from the start with a lead that beats yours.

Ok so I've been leading with a Mega-mence Lando-T double intimidate combo which proves useful in many situations. Mainly against talonflame and megamom leads. My only qualms is that this lead has a heavy weakness against certain pokes. Mainly defiant bisharp, icy wind gengar and especially competitive milotic w/ ice beam and cresselia. Rock slide + double edge will take care of sash gengar and should take care of milotic. Cress you can just protect and u-turn to something more favorable. If you see bisharp you absolutely don't want to lead with both.

I've been wanting to try out mega mence myself, but a DD variant. Not sure what to have as my fourth move though.
