Would you be here for a game set in Kalos where Hoopa has left hoops scattered around it, and each time you pass through a hoop it transports you to an older region with updated graphics?
Picture this:
The distance between gyms 1 and 2 is huge.
Distance between the rest of the gyms is nothing in comparison.
What if, after you get your 2nd badge, you meet Looker and a new "Lorekeeper", who are trying to solve the mystery of the hoops scattered around Kalos, people going missing etc. You see a hoop around the corner and it sucks you in to, say, Saffron City. You cannot explore the whole of Kanto, just Saffron and perhaps a nearby route for lazy GF reasons. When you find another hoop you go back to exactly where you were before in Kalos.

Some "hoop" areas might even let you catch Pokemon. There could be, say, 7/8 hoops in the main game and 10 post-game, filled with missions around the different regions. 1 hoop could transport you to Nimbassa, 1 to Rock Tunnel, 1 to Olivine City, 1 to the Bug Catching Contest, etc....I think I ight have just thought of the greatest idea.
