zygarde getting mega should have been obvious from its base stat total

kyurem was also below the standard 680 that even giratina had before its new form, but kyurem was a serviceable 660

zygarde sits at a lowly 600, making it a worse garchomp

Right, but everyone was talking about formes at first, and I just never really speculate about future gens much. But given what happened to Rayquaza I'm definitely thinking two megas.

The question is what will be the difference and will they be good or bad

that actually fucking brilliant. why didn't I think of that before? I just wish they picked any other Pokemon besides Rayquaza to test this out with. now that we know Mega Evolution without the stone is possible, Zygarde is going to go to town when Z comes out. and maybe they gave it shit stats because they knew it would be able to hold an item. still butthurt about Rayquaza though.

what will happen is it will most likely gain new forms.

Becuase it has the move lands wrath on its moveset, which is pretty much an inferior earthquake. Depeding on the form it takes the move will probably morph into thousand arrows or thousand waves. You can't really have a mega change its moveset upon evolving.

Well, if the Rayquaza hypothesis is flawed and we take your statements about the moves as correct, Zygarde could still have two megas. It's possible that if it just ends up mega evolving in the normal way, the move will change depending on the held megastone or upon mega evolution.

OR, if the Rayquaza hypothesis isn't false AND your ideas about the moves are also not false, then the moves could be changed some other way and be used to induce the respective mega evolutions. Like, an NPC or an item (like the ones that affect Deoxys' formes and Eevee evolving into Leafeon and Glaceon) that's different in each version and when interacted with changes the move. Seems a bit complicated but something along those lines.

I was thinking that Thousand Arrows and Thousand Waves would be move tutor moves. the only issue with that is if it has both moves at the same time. I'm hopeful it doesn't work like Kyurem because that would be kinda boring.

And since Zygarde is the Kalos equivalent of Rayquaza, and has 2 exclusive moves in the code and stuff, that's why I drew that conclusion.

Zygarde X will be Poison/Ground and learn the move Thousand Waves. Zygarde Y will be Dragon/Ground and learn the move Thousand Arrows. It won't require a hold them to mega evolve.

Both Zygarde BSTs will be:

108 -> 108 HP (+0)
100 -> 160 Attack (+60)
121 -> 101 Defense (-20)
81 -> 111 Sp. Attack (+30)
95 -> 105 Sp. Defense(+10)
95 -> 110 Speed (+20)

A bunch of people thought it would get 2 forms as soon as the moves were found. The only question was whether they would be legit or megas. With Rayquaza's style of mega now a thing, it'll definitely happen like that. I'm seeing X2 and Y2 happening in the future with the moves being exclusive to each and thus Zygarde won't be able to have both moves at once.

If Zygarde had two mega evolutions like this what would happen when it had both? Or does it mega evolve by actually using the move? In which case that is something new, and not the same as rayquaza. This is all just baseless speculation and circle jerking at best.

And I didn't realize you didn't have to use the move for rayquaza to mega evolve because I don't have any desire to use a Rayquaza. In that case, there's no reason it wouldn't work exactly the same for Zygarde.

And of course it's speculation considering we technically haven't even had any further Kalos games announced. I'd think that'd be pretty damn obvious? But it's certainly not baseless. If you have some kind of issue with speculation then you shouldn't have even posted in this thread and just blocked it or whatever.

Wanna keep acting like you can't use your brain or are we done here?

Also, Zygarde is part Ground whereas Rayquaza is part Flying. That's got to be an intentional sort of parallel.
