People that are big fans of characters in pokemon are the worst. Cythiafags, people who unironically like the villainous teams. Pokemon doesn't do a great job with characters and stories. That's not their forte. I grow a little tired of people who applaud certain characters in pokemon that are obviously pretty mediocre.
Don't get me wrong. I like Zinnea as far as pokemon characters go. She has a neat design and the Delta Episode was a nice post game thing. But ultimately some of the plot points were typical GF retarded. Her characterization was cool when she was just being her bold self but there were moments that were very cringy and awkwardly forced by the writing team.
I'm skeptical of people who really really gravitate to pokemon characters because I feel like your section of the fanbase encourages Game Freak to continue making cringy plot lines and characters that you will just lap up because you have no appreciation what-so-ever for subtly and quality and basically headcannon these characters to be more than what they are. Meanwhile the rest of us keep getting Game Freak focusing on their weakest points in design and thinking that they are delivering quality characters because they see fanart and fanfics dedicated to really just headcannoned adaptations of their vapid characters.
I'm sick of seeing the Shaunas, ORAS Mays, and Lysandres with their puffy exposition about the power of friendship and how talented and special the mc is because they are sensing some mystical energy from the last battle. And then you people praising them for it.
Zinnea wasn't that bad and only had a few moments of borderline dumb shit. Especially that part where she meets you in Littleroot Town. Cynthia is the worst IMO. The amount of praise she gets is ridiculous when you consider her actual character in the story. She being the champion, just sends you on errands through sinnoh while she knows Cyrus is trying to destory the fucking universe.
