The fairy type gym is pretty much what Mami said with Ash using his honedge (if he gets one but considering we still havent seen his debut in the anime series it might be possible for that special episode based director is making.)
Aegislash in the movie was fucking garbage as fuck though.

Because of the lack of Team Flare in Ash's storyline, do you guys think that Giovanni is going to be the big bad of XY rather than Lysandre? I wouldn't be mad to be honest. Ash and Giovanni haven't had a proper 6v6, and Anime Team Rocket seems to be far more capable of wrecking shit than Team Flare. They intended to have a Team Plasma plot run throughout the series, similar to Aqua/Magma and Galactic, but the episode introducing Plasma was pulled after the disaster. Instead they did the single Plasma arc after the league.
So you probably can't really use Unova as a basis for how they'll do things in the future, because it was done that way only because of an unusual extenuating circumstance.
