So we can assume animals and real world countries don't coexist in the Pokeverse, right?

I always thought that the Pokemon region was separate from other countries, though I've seen people say Unova was a state, and animals existed but don't appear due to conversation of detail. However the games seem to be implying otherwise lately.

So Pokemon really is distancing itself from the 'real world'. Maybe animals existed once but now they don't. I've heard some people theorize Kalos is France by another name, and likewise with other regions.
