Alright, I just restarted my Pearl. Anybody have any suggestions as to what I should have on my team? Right now I have:

Monferno
Staravia
Buizel
Luxio

I remember there being shit fire types you could only choose from in game, like Ponyta and Houndour were only ones you could get without trading.

No. It's Pearl so your only other Fire type is Ponyta. That's why Flint was in general a bad idea.
