GTS truly is a great system. Make sure you deposit pokemon, it's hard to find what you want in searches. Just hunt for what you can in the overworld and pray you get stuff in GTS. You can also just Wonder trade all day, you won't get every pokemon in your PC boxes, but you'll fill up pokedex entries at least while also having the chance to get something useful.
