Man, remember the hype whenever a new Pokemon appeared in the anime. The last time that happened was in Hoenn.

Nowadays we know about the gen or know the gen will be announced in a few months. No hype anymore, little rumors.

We already knew of all those other Pokemon long before they appeared in the anime too, you were just a little kid at the time, so you weren't paying enough attention to be aware of them.

The only time a Pokemon has initially been revealed IN the anime was Mega Charizard X in Origins.

No, Ho-oh was one of the first gen 2 Pokemon to be announced, long before the anime premiered.
The Togepi episode aired 4 months after it was actually supposed to because the show went on a break due to Porygon, so that was DEFINITELY not debuted there.

What about Munchlax? Either way, there was a longer gap between reveals in the anime and the actual game releases. That creates a lof of speculation, especially when info is slow

There was a scene where Pikachu used thunderbolt and rhe screen flashed several colors. It gave kids seizures so the episode was banned, Porygon won't appear in the anime anymore, and the episode was never dubbed

The internet makes unlockables and spoilers a thing of the past too. I tried to avoid SSB spoilers but both this gen and last gen couldn't.

i successfully avoided those because i forgot all about it.
it's pretty easy to avoid spoilers if you try though. i had lots of surprises in kalos even though i accidentally saw a few (which were the methods of evolution of pancham and inkay, but they're bull to begin with). i was actually surprised when diantha was the champion, but that's probably cause she only appears once.

Zoroark appeared in a Sinnoh movie. Same with Mega Mewtwo Y for Unova.
Plus, Alexa showed up with Noivern, Gogoat and Helioptile. She was how Ash got to Kalos.
