I believe it's the term for when you want your Pokeball to match the Pokemon inside it.

For example, I caught my teams Ditto in a Premier Ball because I thought the white ball matches it, being a blank slate Pokemon that mirrors its opponent and all.

Shiny Haxorus fits the Luxury Ball because they're both black and red.

Really, I think for the effort required it's not nearly as autistic as next to anything else about Pokemon. Wanting the ball to match is especially good paired with other projects like trying to get female starters or breeding for shinies. If you're already putting yourself through the trouble, why not spice it up just a bit so it's that much more rewarding when the job is done?
