I don't know, I've never actually used it to shiny hunt, just to catch pokemon with hidden abilities. I've heard some people say that chaining (where you search for a pokemon again immediately after encountering it and get another guaranteed shakey bush) increases your chances, and I've heard others say that just using the dexnav increases your chances by a flat rate and the size of the chain has nothing to do with it. Sorry I don't have more information than that, I'm not a big shiny hunter

no, it was a bad point, Id forgotten about Scrappy I was working off the premise they couldn't hit you anyway. Im honestly not a regular competitve battler so Im not used to the standard metagame threats.

I play him in doubles and Im experimenting with his set a little bit, I was using fakeout/wil-o/shadowball/recover to pretty good effect helping a second lead to set up, but I think running a mega sableye with taunt could be some good mind games, since the recognized M-Sableye set doesnt use taunt and all his other non mega sets DO use taunt, smogon types will see a first turn taunt as a sign that its not a mega, allowing them (they think) to freely try shenanigans whereupon with a proper predict you can mega and magic bounce it.
I played with priority calm mind (as per the smogon set) and its strong but I feel like Sableye has such a big toolbox of moves to screw with the field it may be wasted.

For instance Sableye DOES learn gravity, so you can first turn priority gravity and laugh when their HJK fails.

I think Sableye should be a lot more threatening than he is purely because hes unpredictable

Honestly, with the whole "Friendship" mechanic, and not having a Pokemon in a Field egg group that knew Fake Out, I just went with a regular set. I mean, I have a Lopunny now, but I'd have to breed a male Buneary, max its friendship, breed a Pikachu for Pichu, and its just annoying since I'd have to constantly breed again.

You know, I got lucky last week. I was trying to hatch an HP Fire Treecko. No HA, since I don't have one with an HA. One came out as 31/7/31/31/31/30. HP Ice. I couldn't be any happier... until I realized that HP Fire was the better choice. Bred again, and I got two HP Fire Treeckos, one with 30/31/26/30/31/30. The 4 EVs in Defense essentially makes it have 27 IVs in Defense, and I'm fine with that.

You know once I decided to breed a pika with VT for someone, they wanted to be the OT so I gave them an egg, they got upset that it was a pichu, and that it wouldn't evolve (they kept fainting it so it didn't like them), and then they just arrived at the safari and caught a pikachu of their own and boxed the pichu I gave them.

Did they seriously not know that a Pichu would hatch? Wow. Seems like a waste of effort getting it for them on your part. It really isn't hard maxing happiness, but as far as breeding, it can be a bit annoying, especially when you're trying to pass down IVs between generations of offsprings. I'm surprised Pokemon can't evolve by maximum unhappiness.

Yeah I figured, I just thought Id ask.

You know Im going over his moves more in depth and there is so much bullshit you could pull with him.

priority gravity would be hilarious if M-lopunny becomes a constant foe, even more so if you have someone using arfquake and an opponent with a talonflame that thinks its safe. It also counters some of the skydrop shenanigans happening right now.

You could do a confuse ray/astonish or dark pulse/recover/fake out or fling, kings rock set for flinchhax irritation

I dont think most people would expect him to carry dazzling gleam which could be hilarious

Imprison for other fakeout leads would be good

some of the sets Ive seen have him using knock off, and Ive found it kind of weak compared to his other options.

Mimic would be amazing if it works with prankster.

Snatch would be great for sweepers trying to set up

you could do telekinesis along with a focus blast user for lopunny and kanga

Priority Trick is no joke either and I could see that really dismantling someones strategy.

I love Sableye so much

Yep, Sableye's my favorite in terms of design as well as options. Prankster just opens so many doors for strategies. Another pokemon I love for the same reasons is Tangrowth, you can run bulky Regenerator sets, mixed attacker, special attacker, physical, fast chlorophyll sweeper, and he gets tons and tons of coverage with his learnset. He also gets a lot of reliable recovery with Regenerator, Leech Seed, Giga Drain, and Synthesis, and he even gets Pain Split. His stats are also amazing, disregarding special defense and speed. Oh, and he also gets good status in Sleep Powder. He can do pretty much anything and he looks great too, fuck I love him.

Eelektross is a decent mixed attacker/pivot if you can get around his speed, pretty good coverage

Scarfed impostor ditto is hilarious shenanigans when you can get him in at the right time.

As shown in the 2014 VGC, Gengar has some tricks up his sleeve still too, a huge box of them really.

Yea, the guy I gave the pika egg too, I also wound up trading him other babies that you needed incense to get because he simply didn't understand breeding. I got a few nuggets for my trouble at least.

Pretty good advice. I just go for pokemon I like and try to make them work. Fairy, water and normal seems to really tanky pokemon as well. My personal favorite type is grass, so I'm pretty happy with the starters getting buffs the generation.

Insurgence looks alright. There's more dark elements than expected, but that's the way the romhack was made. Nothing against it, but I can't really give an opinion after only seeing the beginning. If you wants any ideas for a Normal-type Pokemon, I've used a 252 HP/252 Def/4 Sp. Def Chansey, but the idea is to be somewhat of a wall-breaking sweeper. Thunder Wave, Softboiled, Seismic Toss, and Substitute. Trick is to get rid of hard-hitting physical attackers and Ghosts, but proper team support can cover that. I was looking online and saw a spread of 172 HP / 40 Atk / 124 Def / 172 SpD EVs for an AV Tangrowth. Pretty good. I like Venusaur, Gogoat and especially Dual Screens Meganium as bulk Grass-mons.

Not really. It's just to make it bulky on its physical and special side, so a Tank. The set I saw was EQ, Rock Slide, Leaf Storm and Knock Off, though I'd give it Giga Drain over Leaf Storm for recovery.

I was thinking of running a houndoom for odor sleuth/fire blast/dark pulse/roar, maxing speed and attack, to cover ghosts and steels, but it kind of falls flat without sunny day support.
Also, I noticed that sound proof Abomasnow can really hurt people relying on a fairy. Not sure about movesets for that one.

Sassy nature? Nah. Relaxed (+Def/-Spe). It would make more sense being a Relaxed with 252 Sp. Def. (298.5/299 Sp. Def.), but overall, Sassy makes it bulkier. You're free to change those EVs, as I might do the same for my own Tangrowth when I breed for it. I use Showdown's Damage Calc to measure EVs.

My #1 favorite Pokemon: Houndoom. I know your pain when it comes to Sun support. If only it had a better ability. I tried running Nasty Plot, but it's still pretty frail. That might work, but you mentioned Soundproof, and most Fairies are specially defensive, so you might want to run Adamant or Brave with Ice Punch/Avalanche (egg move), EQ, Protect/Leech Seed, and Wood Hammer/Seed Bomb.

I recommend using a Pokemon like Scarf'd Chandelure for an elemental and defensive core, or any other Fire-type Pokemon. Dragons and Fairies are good supporters, besides Ghosts, for Steel-type Pokemon.

Well, depends on the Pokemon, plus, you'll have an entire team of 6 Pokemon, so if missing out on HP on one Pokemon is crucial, then you can use another that may have a STAB/SE move (and hopefully stats and EVs) to counter the opposing Pokemon.

Exactly. You have a good counter to Pokemon that threaten Chandelure, as well as good coverage support for Chandelure. Tangrowth and Chandelure handles M-Blastoise's weaknesses, Scizor takes on shit like Chansey (make sure it has Knock Off), and you'll want a Fairy-type Pokemon or Psychic (Trick Gothitelle gets the job done so well) and something like ScarfChomp.
