There's no proof of that. For all we know Red was doing the same thing he did in FRLG: Traveling and training. You just happened to find him while he was on the mountain.

I like Red, but i undestand the all the trouble everyone have over him being the silent protagonist. He's not a character, he's just a mirror of yourself.
He became a character in Gen II and in B2/W2. It's just natural he dosen't speak, no game designer can imagine how would you imagine Red to be. He could be a joyful and kind person, it's open for you to decide.

He gets all the hate because you see other people's mirror. And natually the vision of perfection of DeviantArt users in not what you were expecting at all.

I honestly like Red, I mean come on don't tell me you didn't nearly shit your pants when you first got to him in G/S as a kid and saw his levels and team.

But that's mainly nostalgia. I think if they did something like that now it would be like "meh" for me.

Gold/Silver was the perfect love letter to people who played the first game. And the perfect send off to the Game Boy generation. Who said he did? Did anybody ever say he was up in the mountains the whole 3 years? I always assumed he was just training at the time Ethan was going through Kanto, and you just happened to catch him in the middle of it.

Though, it would take forever grinding to the 70s or even 81 on level 40s so, maybe he was up there the whole time. You cant be bothered with social distractions when youre training in Isolation. thats the whole "isolation" part of it.
