I usually pick one of the teams from the smogon maison top list. I am currently at win ~170 in super singles with garchomp, mega kanga and azumarill in that order. Thinking of playing the same team in ORAS except for mega scizor instead of kanga. Garchomp is a great starter that can deal with a lot, if he dies then mega kanga will wipe the floor with almost anything and if she dies then Azumarill will usually take care of the rest. Closest call was when I was down to azumarill and my opponent had his jolteon left, both full hp, I take my chances with play rough, Jolteon goes first with yawn, azumarill oneshots jolteon.
Tried an interesting team in super triples which was centered around a mega blastoise spamming water spout with a greninja and talonflame besides it with. Garchomp, rotom-w and a major glass cannon heracross as backup. Only got to around win 47 where the opponent won with a slowbro and slowking last standing. Going with a different team next time.
