They're still overwhelming when using, you just think it's bad because of "waaaaah no eternal rain, can't abuse it anymore no more press hit to win waaaaaah help me smogon". There are GREAT pokémon that abuse weather in gen6. Problem is that every single team I face, every faq I see about weather in anyplace is the same "using same mon from gen 5 in gen 6".

Only because you can't get retard spam-move-win victories, does not mean it's bad.

Not that it needs to be alive. Mega Charizard Y is almost the perfect Sun sweeper and the best abuser of it. Whereas Nothing that's good gets Drizzle Charizard is able to support itself with Drought, its just so good at it that every other infrastructure a sun team used to carry has become more or less irrelevant. The only downside Charizard has is its middling speed really, so you just add a Chlorophyl sweeper to work with Charizard a la ExcaTar (I like Victribell for that since it gets Weather Ball) and bam. Your sun core is ready to go.

Not that it could be any better though. Fire Types don't have a swift swim-like ability and as long they don't Sun never will truly work. After all, Grass is an horrible STAB and even things like Weather Ball don't hit THAT hard without STAB.

One user of sun doesn't mean sun is alive. Y-zard really only uses it for itself, and yeah you can pair it with a Chrophyll mon by Y-zard sucks as sun support cause it has no Heat Rock, it's weak to sneaky pebbles, and you're usually better off firing off a Sun-boosted Fire Blast than switching to your chrolophyll sweeper.

Git gud at reading man. Sun is dead and Charizard uses sun for itself, I just said that and then added Chlorophyl sweepers are a bonus you may add in case you need something with extra speed.

Rain is. ExacTar is popular due to how well they work together, how easy it is to use and how good Escadrille and Tyranitar are on their own.

Sun only exists in the for of Mega Charizard Y, but its a fucking nuke.

Gen 6 rain is all about abusing Swift Swimmers who are fast as balls and do tons of damage to everything they touch with STAB rain boosted attacks. They lay waste to offensive teams and against defensive teams it's usually just a bulky grass, water or Chansey prevening their whole team from going down.

It's a really effective playstyle that's not used anywhere near as much as it should be.

There are many other things that would greatly benefit from this ability, such as Magmortar, Volcarona, Blaziken and Chandelure.

This last one would become top OU or possibly be even banned (it'd be x100 times worse than specs Kingdra) while Blacken would be readmitted in OU (if it lost Speed Boost for this)

So yeah, plenty of pokemon could put this ability to good use.
