I have a 3DS that I bought at launch and it's starting to sort of get old. nothing's happened yet but I'm afraid it's going to crash or something soon, so I will trade in for one of these, probably wait for a special edition.

That'll teach me to be an early adopter ever. I also have an original DS, the "phat" version, that I bought for $10 at a thrift store a few years back, and I have less fear of it failing for some reason.

The ambassador program is pretty cool and I am gonna fight to keep all that shit on my account when I get a new console. I haven't had to get it fixed yet, but I think the hinge is a bit looks like people complain. There's also this weird unexplained crack on the top edge of the casing of the top half? I'm not very hard on it though, haven't dropped it or anything. It's just time to upgrade.

Well, I mean you will have already traded in the 3ds, but they let you do the transfer while they still have the old one right there. Unless there's some vital reason they HAVE to take it in the back right then and there the second you trade it in, which is possible, I'm not familiar with such things.

I think it's because they really only care about their japanese image. Slapping "New" on the front of a game title actually sounds fine for the japanese market because it won't be confusing to them. Their thinking is probably that they want to preserve 1st party title/console names internationally, so NOA gets fucked trying to market a game with a stupid title.

Ah, no, I'm going to be getting other kinds of games too, not just Tales of Xillia, but I've seen a few episodes of a playthrough on youtube, seems like a fun game.

Vesperia was the best for me. My sister, who has basically played all available Tales, agrees with that. Xillia has an extremely fun combat system and fighter development, but somehow it just doesn't feel right overall. I thought the story didn't quite deliver. And the main English voice actress has a terrible lisp. I hate that.

Ambassador Edition here.

It's actually fairly comfortable to use. It's also not a stick, it's a nub that doesn't move and has surprisingly good pressure sensitivity.

However, there is absolutely no reason to get a New 3DS unless you plan or already have games that can benefit from it.

Gamestop will let you transfer your data over, but you need to have the old system with you and your own Wi-Fi source (if there isn't one). The transfer can take anywhere from 10minutes or so up to an hour or so.

Be prepared, it's probably going to be a pain.
