Alright /vp/, what are the meta-capable mons that stop sweeps/trap plays like:

- Belly Drum Slurpuff
- Belly Jet Azumarill
- Shell Smash Cloyster
- Perish Trap Gengar (who goes into other trappers to not have to take heavy hits)
- Memento/Setup/Baton Pass into X (e.g. Stored Power Espeon)
- Char-X after a Dragon Dance
- Calm Mind Gothitelle (assuming you've lost all your Dark types)

Is there an overlapping answer? Scarfed Destiny Bond Gengar and Unaware mons are my only tool to combat these things, and they only work some of the time.

Priority, Trick Room (before they set up), STAB-resistant walls, Cofagrigus (for physical attackers that depend on their ability), paralysis/burn/sleep, Scarfed revenge killers, the list goes on.

The main thing is to be aggressive with them. For example, if they switch in an azumaril and you think they're trying to scare you out so they can drum you can just attack into them and if you're faster they won't get the drum, if you're slow then you'll potentially kill them. Same thing if it's something like crustle sturdy+shell smash - just attack into their smash and make sure to break sturdy. You may need a priority attack to get out of either situation safely, but that's not hard to come by.

Another thing is taunt. Taunt is an extremely important move, make sure at least one of your pokemon on every team you make has it.

I don't really like relying on Sash unless it's Magic Guard Alakazam or a lead, since hazards usually fly everywhere by the middle of the game.

Yeah, I've got that down. The other day a Slurpuff Belly'd on my Mega Sceptile while I stayed in to Giga Drain. But then because of Drain Punch OHKOing it was out of range for my Arcanine to revenge kill with E-Speed. So I was just reflecting on situations like that with this post.

They cant set up in front of something that has tough claws, priority and a STAB that has a 30% chance of raising attack

Or use scarfed ditto

Yeah, I've personally never run it. It always seemed like a situational handicap for me since it has trouble against well-balanced teams, but it seems like something worth building a team around if it can stop big investment sweeps.

Red Card doesn't activate if the Pokemon holding it gets knocked out, and Sturdy isn't exactly reliable considering hazards.

Could do Endure + Red Card I guess.

I, for one, never stopped. Well, I mean, my main team doesn't use it, but if I did still regularly use it I would be using a belly drum set.
