>>22528275It's an optional Hard Mode for a reason. If you want to grind to win, turn it off.
Also, I changed my mind. The game doesn't even let your pokemon gain experience once they've reached one experience point from overleveling. If you happen to trade in/catch overleveled pokemon, they will be disobedient.
Every trainer in the game sends out their first pokemon completely at random, so team order can't be memorized. A gym leader, rival, or such will never send out their ace first (best is always last) but the lead is random between their other 5 pokes.
Upon beating the Gym Leader's ace, you will receive the cumulative experience of all of the gym's pokemon, distributed equally amongst your party, whether or not they're fainted.
The game doesn't allow you to switch pokemon whenever you K.O. an opponent's pokemon. All battles are "Set".
The game no longer contains potions, revives, or repels. At all. All you have available are berries, no man-made medicine. Pokemarts are there for balls, mostly. Certain "berry juices" can be made by blending berries, and they have more powerful effects that mimic synthetic items (like Hyper Potion, Carbos, etc). The most useful blends are absurdly difficult to get ingredients for - doing so is a quest in itself, with related npcs and dangerous battles on already difficult routes.
You have a personal berry farm that your mom continuously harvests and replants, or you may pay to have an expert tend your farm for better yields.
However, you're restricted to only one of each hold item in your party.
