The trick is going to be trying to have counters for Salamence, Metagross, Blaziken, and Mawile, and Latios since those will be the top threats that we can expect to see.
You need ton be a little creative. In a previous competition I gave my Mewtwo Flamethrower just to deal with Aegislash, or in the early days of 6th gen using Barbaracle with poison jab as a counter to Talonflame and Azumarill.

besides, using good pokemon alone won't get you very far, you have to actually be a decent player at least, since there's a point where you'll be faced with good players more often than not.

Use Rhyperior, but if you're gonna use it, I'd say send him out at the start.
