Apparently the dexnav doesnt accually cause the shiny chance to increase with chaining.

It gets raised by a fixed amount, but its still better to chain because you have a beter chance of it having good IVs or egg moves

Check the parents and make sure they have 6IVs, I know I have managed to put back a 4IV parent instead of a 6 before myself.

I started a weedle hunt last weekend and about 3-4 boxes in I completed it on Wednesday. 4IV female with max attack and speed (All that really matter for mega beedrill imo). 4IV can happen with a 5IV/6IV couple, as the one that the 5IV is missing gets inherited, then one of the stats that both have is the one that is randomly generated. Unless they changed it in ORAS from XY it should guarantee 5IVs between two 6IV parents.

Using dexnav I caught a shiny ralts, then two days later I was just dicking around in the grass and came across another. Sadly both are female, but one has 4 perf ivs, special attack, speed, special defense, and defense. I don't have my 3ds with me atm and I don't remember the nature. The other had decent ivs but not even a one was perf, they were mostly between 21-25, traded her for a shiny honedge.

That was awful but less shitty than I was expecting (I wanted to try gallade next but the idea of getting a shiny female makes me want to die). Now I have 23 5iv regular beldum and like 90 that can't into the right IVs sitting around (and countless ones on wonder trade)

For the first ride....it wasn't that bad I guess

After many failed boxes of Phantump I decided to take a break and start MMing for good ol' Smogonsword. I had a 4IV foreign male so I wanted the non-foreign female to have 5 IVs. I had one with 4 and a few non-foreign 5IV males. So as I was breeding those to get a female with 5 IVs I ended up getting a shiny. I got it in the first six eggs, and in that same group I got the 5 IV parent I wanted.

Then as I go to EV train the shiny this morning the very first horde battle has a shiny Oddish. With that kind of luck I guess I shouldn't expect shinies for a while.

Somewhat related, is there a way to breed nongender Pokemon into specifically chosen balls? I tried once with a Magnemite but it still came out a regular Pokeball.
