Anyway, the leaders and trainers prior to Norman were dropped in order to accommodate for the extra trainers added in later on making for a smooth level scaling. That's why if you battle most of the trainers with a full team of six you'll be roughly around the same level as the E4 at the end. Which can't be said for HG/SS

And yes, removing tedious features IS and improvement whether you like it or not. It's not something you can argue same goes for the Game corner unless you actually wanted them to force you to play shitty minesweeper without the ability to tap A at a counter for half an hour.

Oh and speaking of the Safari Zone, HG/SS managed to make it even more tedious by adding day. even week long wait times for minor pokemon.
