Why "it looks like a Digimon" its used in a despective form to describe a pokémon?

People who say "It looks like a digimon" only mean that a Pokemon is not specifically an animal with some additional features. They also will refute your argument by saying "oh yeah, well at least Magnemite/Electode/Exeggutor is awesome/badass".

the "its an creature what are like a RL animal but have some weird features" are much ure interesting
like Raichu or Greninja

The "its an inanimate object but alive and ready to attack you" are very cool too
like magnezone or graveler

You said it yourself. But the problem here is that most Digimon designs are edgy crap. Or ridiculous like a dog with guns, cannons and knives sticking out of its body for no reason but to be edgy.
