They help as much there as they do against other people.
Which is, the majority of games will be determined by strategy, but if you're going in with worse stats you're gonna lose what would usually be close games.

Yes, IGN told me that it's no longer possible to complete the game without IV training and that's why every new Pokémon game sucks.

OP here, I chained porygon in AS and caught about 15 of them, the ones with 2/3 star potential.
Apparently none of them have perfect IVs in both speed and sp. atk.
Is it better to just to use pokegen for IVs. The only reason why I wouldn't do that is that it takes away the feeling of winning.

Natures generally matter more than IVs, anon.
But yeah, breeding is way easier than what you're doing now. Get a 6IV Ditto from WiFi general or Powersaves general or whatever and you'll have 5IV, natured things much quicker than waiting for them to jump out at you.

Yeah, unless you somehow befriended someone with a Ditto safari back in XY, then good luck breeding in ORAS if you don't have access to Pokebank or don't believe in asking peopel for good Pokemon.
