We've had a variation of GTS threads for a long time and it wasn't that bad until shortly before /gg/ was created to take away the cancer from the GTS threads. I do think only having one giveaway thread for powersaved mons is necessary but i doubt the quality would increase. The rest of the trading can be done in /wfg/

It replaced the luvdisc gts threads because the givers from those threads just stopped posting. /gg/ spawned out of a few threads headed by cosmic who was trying to ironically post about shitposting that started cropping up while the actual giveaways would stay in the threads past their bump limits. People enjoyed those so much they just kept making them, and eventually it was just decided to keep the shiny/legend/everything else the OP in the old disc threads said not to ask for, there.

Plus with things like powersaves being fairly popular, people just got tired of the same old giveaways and the threads were slow. I'll wager if there's a handful of people willing to take breeding requests or even just hack requests, who cares in those threads again they'll be just fine.
