The next tournaments are PRC prereleases (not like we need 'em thanks to Target's boner) and are happening the week after next.
The source of the early PRC scans have been revealed (not surprisingly, it's Target stocking a certain PRC product early) and Pokebeach has scans of the set.

PTCGO client:
http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-tcg/play-online/download/ The client does not have PRC cards/packs (except for the holo starters included in that weird lunchbox collection). They'll show up on release date or, given the TCGO staff's record, 1-3 days after that.

>TOTT 1: What are you running in your deck, and why isn't it Night March? Yveltal and friends because by sheer luck I happened upon a full art Toad, Darkrai, and Mewtwo in real life before quitting Pokemon TCG because I lost my Meloetta/Seismitoad round deck around Legendary Treasures. So I decided to make a deck around those cards I ended up with. Plus Night March is common and popular and I'm wholeheartedly a hipster, so Yveltal/Manectric it is for me. Just wish I had better answers for Sigilyph/Suicine. I absolutely adore how Pyroar is 110 against M Manectric though.

>>22588869 XY base is decent for getting into the physical game. Gives you stuff for some of the most powerful decks in the format and the other two Mega EXes are great collection fodder. Plus uncommon Muscle Bands and actually decent commons like Sycamore, Professor's Letter, Roller Skates, etc.
It's shit on PTCGO though because packs come with energies you get unlimited. If only referring to PTCGO, Primal Clash will be your best bet, especially if you like shiny cards.
Get Phantom Forces only if you think you might want to build either Night March or Metal specifically. I think the latter is sort of expensive and a box won't get you even half the deck assuming you get all the right EXes and SR's.

>>22589013 Nah, you're fine, TCG threads are always more fun when there are people interested
> How does it work, what's the build? Battle Compressor Metal Energies for deck thinning. Get a Bronzong or two on bench and go to town because free energies every turn. Almost everything else would be a basic so you just shit out Dialgas, Aegislash, and Cobalion all you want. I personally run Keldeo with Float stone for free rush in and retreat, most people seem to do the same. Plus water>fire since your steels will be weak to fire.
>Can I fit in Metagross in there? It would be sub-optimal since there's no Metagross spirit link, but it could work.
Up to 5 metal energies being attached per turn with 4 Bronzong (that won't ever actually happen, most would be lucky to hit 2) at +10 per metal energy? You hit 180 damage at base with 5 energies on that thing. With just one Bronzong on the bench, you're already attaching two energies per turn, so that 4 colorless cost doesn't even seem that costly for an attack
Besides, it seems like you'd be playing this for fun so you could probably beat the average PTCGO player running a 1-1 or even 2-2 Metagross line.

Is Mewtwo-EX still worth it in Yveltal and Friends? It seems like it's never really pulling its weight and Night March and even Dark Corridor are getting too common for it not to be an easy Lysandre target for 2 prizes while Yveltal can handle its job against Garbodor and it just serves as another big basic anywhere else. Is there a matchup it's supposed to be good in or something? Even against 4x Mew EX Night March, it seems like it would maybe exchange prizes at best while DCE+Dark Energy Yveltal already can OHKO a DCE-equipped Mew-EX, or DCE+Muscle Band against a Dimnensional Valley single energy Mew-EX and not be weak to half 3/4 of the deck except Joltik who dies to Night Spear and Assault Laser anyway Most yveltal/manectric decks run it at 1 though, so am I forgetting some really important matchup or am I just not using it right? The most use I ever get out of it is as a starter who I usually end up swapping out with a dark energy and Darkrai on bench anyway.

M-Manectric relies too heavily on combo pieces in the right order in a game where the best hand advantage and draw supporters all require you to discard your hand or shuffle it back into the deck. It unnecessarily causes inconsistency whereas Garbodor can go step 1>2>3 or 1>3>2 (2 being evolving into garbodor and 3 being attaching an tool)
That added consistency mid-late game is just better for a competitive deck than Manectric's only advantage of avoiding bad starts since there's no way to start with only a trubbish

>>22612161 Back in gen 3, there were a class of Pokemon called "Pokemon ex" that were slightly stronger than normal Pokemon at the cost of giving an extra prize when killed. Gen 5 revived the mechanic as "Pokemon-EX", except now they're all basic and are ridiculously strong compared to non-EX Pokemon.
There are usually a couple of non-EX Pokemon who have a strong presence in the metagame at any given time, but it's 90% EX dominated.

is there still 3 prizes?
if so, does that mean games can be done in like 5 turns since EX gives away 2?
Anonymous
>>22612821 It's still 6 prizes, but back a few years ago before BW format, you could end games by just turn 2, or even turn 1 with some of the broken nonsense that was out there.
The fastest way to finish a game would be Plasma Lugia turbo though it would be incredibly hard to set up and you'd have to have your opponent playing the worse EXes like Mew and Jirachi with under 130 health. You could knock out for 3 prizes, then knock out turn 2 for all 6, but you'd need to set up 4 energies turn 1 and make it so you go second so you can attack. Shit like that is incredibly specific and impossible to ever pull off, you have a much better chance of just killing your opponent's only Pokemon and them not having anything on the bench for you to win right there.

Technically pure playability, Phantom Forces gave us a ton of usable cards and two outright decks while FUF gave us like 3 total cards. If there was a booster box tournament or something, PHF could probably win without adding any additional cards besides energies (especially since they have sycamore)
FUF is more playable since it has almost all the pieces to make the best deck in the format, Donphan.

>>22619118 > you can always run a mix, Problem with that is you run into severe consistency problems.
In my personal opinion, the list goes
>Night Mew >Eeveelution March >Gourgeist shenanigans (until at least Primal Clash, but even that's iffy since you give up Dimensional Valley) Mew is most consistent and 110 HP is a fuckton better than the 30/60 HP you would be running in pure. You need mutiple lysandre to make sure you can get rid of Garbodor though. The only problem is this deck can lose the prize card race thanks to Mew EXes being easy to kill still.
Eevee is much less consistent but has tons of backup plans for when you fail at Night March itself. Without any EXes though, your opponent takes 6 knockouts to actually win while you only need 3-4 against most decks. Plus you can use silver bangle. Speed is the best argument for this variant
Gourgeist requires like 3 combo pieces(pre-evolution move user up, the gourgeist itself, and a grass energy) is weak enough to Psychic to where it can get KO'd pretty wasily, relies too hard on abilities, but the good news is that it doesn't lose to Pyroar or even Donphan nearly as easily as other variants do. Even beats toad decks that don't run Garbodor. Or you can have 4 Lysandre for garbotoad decks. But that makes it even more inconsistent. It's probably the "best" variant of the deck if you can set up everything, but it's the hardest to set up.
So it boils down to Consistency>Speed>High Potential. In card games, consistency usually wins out if you're playing more than one match, but all the builds have their own styles for whatever suits you.

Escape Rope has more antics than switch, especially with free retreats, and even more with Keldeo.
>escape Rope out, choose second >free retreat to the same Pokemon for basically a Lysandre you can still use with any other supporter >or escape Rope and Lysandre out the Pokemon of your choice anyway It has its uses.
>Compressor in fairy Why
You're adding so much unnecessary combo and luck into a thing Xerneas does for free with a single energy. It's even worse since Compressor doesn't do anything to give you immediate advantage and the best use of letter is to get energies when you don't have any, drawing Compressor or even search in it does away with that entirely, especially since mega man needs one of your four rainbows in order to do anything and if you're strapped for energy energy in the first place, you can't accomplish that. It'd be strictly win more here since it's not like dark patch or metal chain where you can get immediate use out of discarded energies. It requires a bunch of set up to even get mega Manectric on the field with the proper energies, and you should always be preparing your deck for the worst case scenario, not the best.

>>22633831 Landorus is terrible for both a fairy deck and one focused on hitting weaknesses. 30 with hammerhead only does like 120 max and you need 2 rainbow invested in order to use its second attack, which doesn't even kill fist weak 170 HP Pokemon. If they kill it next turn, you're out 2 rainbows with no way to recover them or search for more. Lucario EX at least lets you draw so if you get killed that turn, you might already have another rainbow and you even lose out on one less fairy
If you're only using mega Manectric for weakness and not energy acceleration or free retreats (you run 3 stadium and 2 Escape ropes anyway) then you could potentially just run Zapdos LTR for less reliance on EXes

Quoted By:
>>22633911 I hadn't put much thought into the landrous as your post made clear to me. Because I'm not running a lot of basic energy one knockout could be pretty disastrous for me so I run the manectrics for energy retrieval/Yveltals/pyroar and low cost attacking. They have free retreat too so seems like an excellent all around card. Baby xerneas gets my early game acceleration going and after a couple of turns I have all my energy on the bench, manectrics saved my ass countless times after losing 4+ fairy energy from a knockout.

Solrock can finally search special energies, for a single colorless, while being a basic. Milotic being a free Dowsing Machine could be really good. Manaphy has potential in a water deck. Excadrill has a fair bit of use being able to accelerate 4 energies in a single turn for a colorless. Put it in fairy box and it can't even get Lysandre's while it has all 4 rainbow energy in play by your second turn.
Aegislash could be potentially decent with no weaknesses on steel decks.
Eelektross energy connect could see some use in a mega Manectric deck variant.

One hit knockouts, replacement stadiums, wrecking stadiums, substitutes, sigilyph, only ever giving up one prize, etc.
Can't say I've ever had a problem with night march when playing my other decks either. Mew is generally just too frigile and the other pokemon require constant special energy to maintain attacks.

Wonder energies are going to be really nice.
Silent Lab could be really neat if you don't run Keldeo and Virizion. Aromatisse is unaffected and most of your main Pokemon like Gardevoir and Xerneas don't have abilities to even be negated. Though you miss out on the free retreat from the other stadium so you would basically only be able to use this for pure fairy, not Fairybox.
>>22640064 It depends on the current game state actually. Midgame when they have at least 9 in grave, you want to be able to use LTC. Later game Night March players can overextend severely easily, so if they have at least 10 or 11 out of 12 night marchers in their grave, focus on killing the ones left so they're out of resources for Mew to Versatile. If they're prize racing with you, they're set up, and LTC is prized or unsearchable or something, aim for Mews and try to beat them at their own game.
If you can pierce, go for the Mr Mime they should be running. If they don't run Mime and you can pierce, then obviously sort of do that.
>>22640143 Donphan isn't too good of an example since Night March is all about using a bunch of basic joltiks and shit to kill EXes and win by getting 3 KOs faster than the opponent can get 6 on Pokemon you're setting up once per turn with DCE for 180-220 damage attacks which are super effective on Mewtwo and Yveltal. Donphan is like the same except making it so the opponent doesn't get any prizes ever. So Night March has an absolutely terrible match up against it. It's meant to go against things like Yveltal and Friends or Fairy Box.

>>22645161 >>22645229 How is discarding good in most situations? Aside from maybe shoving energies into the grave to reattach with incredibly specific cards definitely not everyone runs (and people don't run many basic energies in a deck in the first place so even that's iffy that you'd have them in hand) and Night March, what situation is it where you can say "I have less things I can use to beat my opponent now, good"
Things like Sycamore aren't good specifically because they throw away your hand, they're good because they give you a new and bigger one to replace it. But if you hold 2 cards and one is a Lysandre you need to win the game, but you just need to search one last card to steal the KO, you lose going for computer search and discarding the Lysandre
Anonymous
>>22645310 Every single game there are going to be cards in your deck that do not help you win. The idea is to discard those so you never draw them again.
Anonymous
>>22645391 But the problem with that is assuming you'll always have those. Sometimes you'll just have your combo pieces like your Manectric Spirit links, your mega Manectric, your one lightning energy, and then when you don't want to discard any of that because you want to get the mega Manectric on the board, you're actively giving up half the pieces you need just to be able to get that Manectric EX
Pokemon has an unlimited hand size, you can draw into your entire deck and you would still be fine so long as you can draw at the beginning of the next turn, this is the only game where there isn't any reason to actively want to discard, just reasons to want to put things in the discard to act as a second hand basically. Having more things in your hand is called card advantage in any other game, which is regarded as a good thing. It's the same in Pokemon. You can't name a single time where it's a good thing for your opponent to N you to one. So why use up three cards to get one, severely limiting your options? Sure, some decks run an excess or mix things they don't need, but even those run into situations where they clearly run into the things they want in their hand If it's a properly functioning deck.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>22645482 Have you never heard of the term "thinning the deck?"
Because it's super important. Especially with N in the format. You get N'd to 1 you sure has hell don't want to be drawing an N of your own. You want to draw whatever is going to give you the best chance to win the game, which is usually another supporter. By all means, keep your stacked hand of useless shit. There is a reason you haven't played it, isn't there? You keep bringing up this hypothetical situation in which your opponent Ns you to 1 and you draw computer search. There are usually around 30-45 WORSE draws in your deck on an N to 1. Consider yourself lucky you got it. But lets think proactively here. How many games are there where you get down to 1 prize and haven't used your ace spec? Not a whole lot. And if you aren't actively thinning your deck, there are usually a dozen (like literally, a whole dozen) cards in your deck you haven't used because they aren't useful, or equally bad in that they don't help you win the game at that point. Many people lose sight of that. You aren't trying to pull off mega sick combos and execute your deck to it's full potential. You're trying to win the game. Sometimes that requires every card in your deck and you cannot afford to discard anything, but much more often you need ONE card that is going to set things into motion.

Pure or even using Mew EX means you shouldn't be worrying about drawing into evolutions you don't need and you have all the room in the world for things like draw support, searchers (4x Skyla and 4x Korrina for Battle Compressor is more search power than I think any other deck) while any Pokemon you start out with besides Mr. Mime is going to be a night marcher or at least Mew with 110 HP to survive you a turn or two. In that build, your entire deck in total really shouldn't even actually have 7 bad cards to make a hand if properly shuffled, and that's just a how many cards you run/how many cards are actually good for you and accelerate your strategy or search cards to further accelerate your strategy.
Toad's an entirely different case since it's not you who's dead drawing from your deck, it's Toad turning your cards dead. That's sort of his thing, but he said it was against Steel, which at best turns hypnotoxic laser dead and makes DCE not even dead, but just less effective.

Even as far as earlygame damage acceleration goes, that guarantees you 60 damage. You don't run N because you're trying to win the prize war and that's counter-intuitive, you don't run Colress because that is dumb when you want 9/12 of your total Pokemon in the discard, leaving you with very few options to fill your bench.
Skyla can search Sycamore if you really need it for a new hand next turn, Korrina can search an Ultra ball if you want to drop things out of your hand. A single battle compressor means you're 1/3 of the way to one-shotting all of your Opponent's Pokemon, which is sort of how you win the game.
Remind me again what you're doing that's better than getting closer to winning the game. If we're talking about shitty starts anyway, Sycamore will probably be discarding things like energies or situational trainers you really need, like Lysandre rather than Marchers, and that's not only a card you run 4/60 of, it's searchable with Skyla, which is apparently a terrible way to use your supporter.
