It makes sense for Wobbuffet, but for the others... Yeah, I kinda wish they had better defenses or more potent offenses to make up for their shit defenses.

It has recovery.
And while mono-Ghost is nothing amazing, it's a decent defensive typing.

Dusknoir's main problem is that it has to go offensive to separate itself from Dusclops.

Should've specified reliable recovery.
Pain Split and Rest do not count as reliable recovery.
Recover, Roost, Heal Order lol, Wish, and Slack Off are reliable recovery. Synthesis, Morning Sun, and Moonlight aren't perfect, but are still valid options.

Pain split, leech seed, horn leech, drain punch, etc. I can understand but the ones that take health by percentage do not factor in HP. 1/10 if 100 HP or 500 HP doesn't matter, it's still 1/10 of that total HP.

Because a Pokemon can't have both or it'll be damn near untouchable short of +6 boosted attacks.

If every wall was as good at being a wall as Blissey/Chansey are with Special walling, then the game would be way, WAY, more defensive and stall focused. Is that what you want? Imagine Shuckle with the same stats as now but 100 base HP.

I actually like stall, but partially because the meta in recent years has been offensive focused, so it's nice to use stall in that environment.

It depends. Pain Split is better with High Defs/Low HPs so it works for a lot of Ghosts.

High HPs/Low Defs is more efficient use of base stats though.

50 as a base is not half of 100 as a base.

50 at minimum is 210 HP (level 100)
100 at maximum is 404 HP (level 100)

You see the issue here with pain split?

Alomomomola is for wish passing. Notice it was introduced the same gen as the Wish mechanic change

Wailord is because it is hueg

Wigglytuff is Double-edge (I know, seems dumb now)

But really, the main reason is to just have a different way of splitting the stats up instead of more typical HP/Def/SpD splits.
