Wich generation had the least remarkable Pokémon as a whole?

Forget gameplay mechanics, continent and all that. Just the pokémon that were added in each generation.

I vote for Gen II. Mostly because it had a lot of baby forms of Gen I pokémon and the few good ones got evolutions in Gen IV.

Gens 2 and 5. Gen 5 had so many "just plain animals" and Gen 5 was just shitty overall. Gen 1 is right up there with Gen 2 and 5 though.

Pokemon were unremarkable bullshit. People don't even put Skiploom in forgotten Pokemon threads because it's so forgotten.

Stuff like Misdreavus and Murkrow wouldn't have been notable before they evolved. Especially since that means Eviolite Murkrow.

Aside from Pokemon who evolved from good Gen 1 Pokemon ala Scizor and Blissey or the obligatories (Legends, starters, psuedo) there were maybe like 10 decently acceptable Pokemon.

Gen 4. Half of them weren't even obtainable since they were convoluted evolutions to old mons and either needed trading or some item or both.

Some of my favorite Gen V lines off the top of my head: Scraggy, Litwick, Joltik, Archen, Sewaddle, Sandile, Dwebble, Larvesta, Solosis, Golett.

Yeah, Gen 2 is so bad that most trainers just stick with Gen 1 pokémon. Hell, even the gym leaders use mostly Gen 1stuff. I mean, Jasmine had a Steelix, Amy Rose had a Miltank, Pryce had a Piloswine... and that was pretty much it.

Gen 5 was pretty meh, too. Actually had a hard time trying to fit a team that I actually liked.

Gen V easily

It's the only gen that lacks that easily recognisable / marketable Pokemon every other gen has. Zekrom came close, but no dice.
