Need some solid advice on this one.

So I have not had a handheld since a GameBoy Color and I just preordered the New 3DS XL.

I question is this, /v/ says to get Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire over X & Y

Yet refusr to explain why without edgy shitposting. Which is better? Thanks

Gamefreak won't release dem pacht for XY so it stays outdated and you can't fight or get any new mega. XY is more like a beta test for what Pokemon on 3D should be like, the only feature you miss is customization but by choosing ORAS you get:

>every other legendary that didn't appear in XY

>better waifu selection than inferior XY cumsluts

Not so sure where you stand on previous gens, assuming you've never played on ROMS before.

ORAS is more of the modern experience, which everyone is at. XY is more of the new feeling, if you're still gen hopping.

Personally I'd go with XY, and be dissapointed when you get ORAS

Just a reminder, Nintendo doesn't put his name on anything that's not made of pure fucking gold, unlike Ubisoft or EA, so you can rest assure that both XY and ORAS are actually good.

The following are the only great things about ORAS:
-All the megas, including the XY ones
-Deoxys catchable in-game
-Move tutors

The rest is absolute shit. The game looks terrible, aesthetically. The textures are shit. The region is shit. Kalos is dripping with flavor, Hoenn is... just Hoenn. From 12 years ago. Bland as ever

Get OR/AS if you really want a Pokemon game for the 3DS now, they're pretty good, but they have no postgame.

ORAS is without question an absolute disappointment. It is a reskin of XY with additional bugs. Holy shit, just look at the side of any mountain in the game. They flat out phoned the whole fucking game in. It lacks any customization to your avatar, which , combined with other problems, make it really fucking apparent they took a beta version of XY, removed any feature that required work, and shipped it for full price. It doesn't even have all the features of the fucking original RSE (Battle frontier, etc). It is a soul crushing disappointment.

That being said, it's the newest one, so some of the pokemon are different enough that you HAVE to have to play other people in tournies or in person.

If you want a wonderful, new pokemon experience, go with XY. At worst, you can go with XY then get ORAS in a month or two after you have exhausted the game.

Here's a more concrete answer
Pokemon ORAS has some features that XY don't, like pokeradar and secret islands. It also has a better postgame, and more pokemon available. The most significant thing ORAS has over XY, however, is about 20 new "mega evolutions", which are like improved super forms for older pokemon (some of which direly needed them, like lopunny). ORAS gives everything XY had anyway, so might as well go for it.

If you like ORAS, you might want to get XY, but I'd wait until the obligatory third edition. Or I'd do something like pick up pokemon black afterwards, which is arguably the best game (but is a generation behind so is missing a number of features).

ORAS has more Mega evolutions and a new form change for an upcoming legendary. It's a remake of Ruby and Sapphire, while XY is it's own region, though I highly suspect we'll be getting either a 3rd version or a sequel pair of games rather soonish that copy the new stuff from ORAS into the Kalos region.

Kalos is slightly boring and its locations are somewhat forgettable, but that may just be me. ORAS has some pretty interesting locations and is less forgettable, especially since it's a remake and you have probably seen these areas before.

One bad thing about X&Y is that they are obsolete now that ORAS is out. They have less features, megas, and aren't the current tournament standard games, although you probably don't care about that last part.

ORAS simply has more to do than X&Y does, and X&Y aren't really worth playing just for the story because it you'll probably forget it by the end of the year anyways. Actually, I can only remember the names of a few gym leaders right now. Korrina because hurr megas and lucario, Clemont because the anime, and Olympia because of that one thread on /vp/ claiming that no one remembered her name (though, I guess this one doesn't really count)

X&Y had a nice feel to it for a pokemon game. It felt sophisticated in a way just by visiting the towns, being in the routes, and just being in the world. It's too bad that they couldn't have had some more memorable locations and more things to actually do than just beat the story. I guess one thing it has over ORAS is that you could potentially replay it a few times since you'll probably need to for it to make a lasting impression.

tl;dr buy ORAS

Bascially:

Do you want to play a game made FOR the 3DS (even though it's mostly in 2D)? Get XY

Do you want to play a remake of a GBA (and it fucking shows) but it's the most recent release so everything won't be incompatible with your friends? Get ORAS

you absolutely do not need both versions of the games anymore. The 3DS connects the internet very easily and there is now an internet trade system (Global Trading System) where you can put up your pokemon and ask for someone to trade it for whatever you want. It works very well as long as you ignore the 10 year olds that want a legendary for a fucking rattata.

If you are getting two games, get one of each region. X and AS are objectively better games because blue is cooler than red

Hey now, Before all this he was speedrunning all the old school pokemon games on his gamecube adapter and never had a handheld since advance. I got him a new 3ds xl with me and AS to cheer him up.
