Not worldwide and it's rarely even played outside of a fan made simulator. Gamefreak has no reason to care about 6v6. It's a shit way to play pokemon these days anyway.

I have zero use for tiers and banlists. However some clauses like no putting more than one opposing poke to sleep at a time could be beneficial if GF programmed them into rated battles ONLY.

I say still allow doubleteam/minimize as there are ways to counteract them (and Smogon allows accuracy-nerfing moves anyway, so wtf?)

Also Smogon leets don't give two shits about the no duplicate items rule, which I think is a pretty fucking important one.

All in all, Smogon can be an excellent source of information and they're more than capable of good ideas, but they have no claim to genuine authority and can all go suck a dick please now.

You're thinking of smash bros.

Gamefreak actually has a part of their team dedicated solely to brainstorming new ways to shake up the competitive metagame. They often have their own competitve tournaments between themselves etc.

Yeah GF is fairly supportive of competitive play, but it doesn't consider the competitive scene something separate from itself.

You're right about Smash, too. Since the 64 days, Nintendo has looked down their nose at competitors and advanced techniques. But they have also decided to partially sponsor APEX, so maybe they're changing their tune.
