Admittedly i don't know about patches so correct me if i'm wrong here, but if you were to patch in the new megas, I'm wondering if you couldn't just hack them into the old game instead of going out and buying the new games. I can understand no customization in ORAS too, they wanted to stick to the originals. Maybe when they make the last pokemon game they'll include customization, following pokemon, soaring, and all that stuff that has been gradually lost over the years.
