Realistic does not necessarily need to mean "needing to look like existing animals" but rather, the plausibility of its existence in the real world. What that shitty artist is doing is not "realistic Pokemon" but rather, "completely butchering the designs of Pokemon by turning them into real life animals they CLEARLY are not for the sake of fulfilling a misguided definition of what realism is." Pokken fighters does what realistic Pokemon should look like correctly (with some minor stylizations mind you). It does not ignore the proportions of the Pokemon as seen in Ken Sugimoris original renditions of them, but adds the details that is intentionally ignored in the actual original Pokemon style (Bone structure, muscles, veins, fur, skin texture, etc.) Really the only thing it keeps stylized for the most part are small things like eyes, lack of visible claws sometimes, missing genitals for obvious reasons, etc.
