Being weak to Dark would make Fairy a garbage typing. People pretend it's super OP when it's just really good, losing just one of its resistances would make it useless because it doesn't even have that many to begin with.
>offensively
Doesn't have any 120 BP physical moves or 110 BP special moves. Resisted by Steel. It's honestly only okay, especially in doubles where rock-weak fires are significantly more viable
>defensively
Absolutely great, but only just good enough to be worth putting on a team. Losing a single resistance, besides maybe bug, would make it terrible. It gets by with having two relatively uncommon weaknesses, beyond that most things hit it neutrally.
Furthermore, there's like three or four good fairies that can actually make use of it defensively. Compare this to Water, where you can't even move without tripping over a bulky water.
>good defensive fairies
Clefable
Mega Altaria
Togekiss (barely)
Azumarill (more of a bulky attacker than an actual defensive pokemon)
>good defensive waters
I shouldn't have to list them. There's like a dozen or so.
>but it ruined Fighting and/or Dark
All the good offensive pokemon, and pokemon in general, are dual typed. There's a LOT of good fighting types
>blaziken, mega lucario, mega lopunny, mega gallade, terrakion, keldeo, hawlucha, chesnaught, mega heracross, conkeldurr, breloom
That's merely the top tier ones. For one type, that's honestly a lot
As for Dark, it suffers from a lack of pokemon that can actually make use of it, but it's not like there aren't any.
