I could use this thread.

I caught a Timid Raikou in ORAS and I'd like to use him, but his Hidden Power is Electric and I know you pretty much have to run either Grass or Ice on these things to make them viable.

Is there any good alternative move available? Probably looking at either a Calm Mind set or a Choice Scarf.

You can use a powersave to modify the Raikou's IVs to match those Hidden Power types. If you don't have a powersave, you might have to gen an exact copy of the Rakiou except it's IVs would be modified for Hidden Power.

Salamence and Garchomp do it better. Garchomp is also way faster and after one single SS can pretty much sweep anything using outrage. Give it a Lum berry and you're fine.
My Garchomp runs SS, Iron Head, Outrage and EQ.

Gee I wonder what the purpose of a support mon is.
Look at the nature and EV spread on OP's image. It's a Specially defensive set. This means it can use its bulk and moves to, you know, SUPPORT its team.

I now remember why /cpg/ stopped again.

I think most commonly encountered Thunderus would give your team some trouble, with all the twave, taunting, and thunderbolting they do. and having all your hazards on one pokemon isn't the best idea in my experience. Heatran would likely be better for rocks or another move entirely since toxic is mostly a benefit for stall teams anyways. That skarmory in general feels like a waste with that spread btw. What do you plan on striking so hard with brave bird that gives you trouble? If you're running a rocky helmet to punish attackers you might as wells dump it all into bulk and just run roost or counter, with just enough speed to taunt select things if you feel the need.

Regarding Dragonite, if you really do have Ddance and WP i'd say outrage is a liability more than a benefit in the age of fairies, but i guess it's plausible if something else takes them out first.

Ok so i'm trying to get back into the competitive scene for 6th gen I used to play early in the XY days before everything was in a tier list but then stopped playing for a while. You need a dedicated flying check for one. Ttar is popular and so is Rotom-W.

It's basically Priority the meta, you'll also need a strong fairy for Mega Sableye.

Howe do I into RU?

So what I'm building my team around so far is Sub-Bulk Up Braviary as a win con (yeah yeah I know B rank win con what the hell but I like using it) with toxic spikes support from semi-offensive dragalge to break through quagsire and Mega camerupt as a mid game wall breaker because all of Braviary's defensive checks are steel or rock types will low spdef and high physical defence. I'm using ass vest Eelektross as a defensive pivot to get braviary into battle with a slow volt switch, and was looking for how to finish or complete my team if you guys want to help me with it.

But they're there to hit Quagsire with hidden power grass after mega evolving before I get smacked the fuck up by a scald. I'm undecided on Dragalge's EV spread, and I need a strong defensive backbone because RU is full of wall breakers like Meloetta.

I've also been noticing these fucking quagsire + Golbat stallbreaker cores and they suck my nuts, so something to beat them would help.

So all battles are recorded online, and I've seen that some Pokémon such as Klang or Boldore have no use whatsoever. What I plan to do is build a team of NFE and PU shitmons and take on Battle Spot. Yes I'll get my ass kicked, but this is just so that these things can get some records at all.
Any ideas? I'm also partial to some LC mons such as Yamask. I like Yamask.

I mentioned I'm outspeeding quagsire to hit him with hidden power grass, because he otherwise stops braviary if I don't have T-spikes up.

Also I really like the T-spikes on Dragalge and prefer the offensive support one to the choice specs one. He's S rank because of his versatility not simply because of the specs set.

Whats wrong with that anyway? Most defensive fairies are maxed in physical bulk anyway since they need the bulk to check physical Fighting and Dragon types. And Gardevoir has a chance of getting KO'ed after Rocks anyway since the standard never has any special defense investment. So Flash Cannon would do great damage to them even if they have decent base special defense. Also Altaria has less special bulk than physical so it would take more damage from Flash Cannon than Iron Head. If I want a really hard Iron Head user, use Bisharp or Excadrill.

If you're going mixed Sceptile then you could replace HP fire with Iron Tail or Low Kick or Drain Punch if its an Ice counter you're after.

The Azumaril and Monkey are the stock standard sets, so they're good.

Gonna need to see the EV spread on Rotom though.

Sceptile is pretty darn good, I'd stick with it if I were

Consider a phaser/defogger like Skarmory so you can get rid of hazards and force boosted opponents to switch.
And posdibly a support and hazard setter yourself like Heatran or Galvantula.

I'd run giga drain instead of energy ball on scept, also I'd much rather have taunt or some other useful move instead of u-turn on monkey, as whatever you want to u-turn out of will probably switch in on the turn you use stealth rock anyway.

44 speed evs for rotom are used to check jolly bellydrum azumarill which is barely used anymore, imo you can invest them into defense or choose something else to creep on.

This team is built on volt-turning into good matchups with Gyarados as a win condition, but has trouble against really well-built defensive cores like Slowbro/Amoonguss/Heatran/Ferrothorn. Other problems are Bisharp and Keldeo.

I like Gyarados because I can sub on a lot of things after Intimidate, but if I can't break their core at +1 I'm kinda fucked. Should I add another setup sweeper or is bulky offense the only way forward?

Oh and btw, don't try to figure too hard what to use, just pick some sets you like and use them and see how far they get you, and see if you're weak to specific stuff on the way and fix your team accordinally, assuming this is for laddering.

Some common important threats to make sure you can at least check, especially since you're playing offense: all genie forms, all 110 speed tier megas+lopunny, sableye, musketeers (especially keldeo), latis, gengar, starmie, all dragon dancing megas (zard, altaria, gyarados), and have a general answer for random scarfers.
This may seem much (and there are far more threats in OU) but you'll find out what you're weak to along the way, just make sure you enjoy your way up (or your stay in elo hell)

I'm running a Pain Split Cofagrigus as a defensive pivot/annoyer, and have a question. Is it better to have minimal HP investment so that Pain Split steals as much health as possible from opponents, or is it better to have maximum HP investment for the benefit of overall bulk?

Cofag's got great Defensive stats, but with a paltry 58 base HP. What do you think?

What would you play instead of Outrage on Garchomp? With 102 base speed,+2 atk and STAB it pretty much wrecks anything, even bulkier tanks can get 2HKO unless they resist it.

Scarf Rotom is balls now

Technician Breloom is generally a lot better

Chandelure is kinda bad

Drop Donphan, it's not good anymore, I'd use Excadrill for a spinner, or just drop that slot all together for something else and give Crobat or Skarmory Defog

Suicide lead is its best set since it's pretty niche but it's also decent at offense as well. With 145 speed, being fast enough to run a Modest nature is great.

I know there's fighting types out there that are way better, but he's my favorite and I'm relatively new to competitive building on Showdown.

If your infernape is solely for rocks you could run fake out for sashes and iron fist boosted fire punch for the common rock setters like skarmory anf ferrothorn, that way you dont kill yoursel with recoil and can save it for later.

The problem with this in my experience is either you come in as a lead, they sense the gambit coming and chose something to sack on their team, and unless it's a scenario where they literally need EVERY pokemon on their team to check some stuff on yours, then it's a waste. Or the other scenario is you come in later on a sweeping threat but they either have priority or a speed boost, and stealth rock fucks up your damage potential.
