Honestly, the best thing to do is play in chronological order. If you try to dive into the most recent games, you're just gonna be confused. There's a shitton more moves and Pokemon, not to mention the introduction of held items and abilities and three more types to consider.

Playing them in the order they came out gives the best overall experience.

I replayed it like a month ago, (still haven't beaten the file) and I don't remember any, but maybe I just have shit memory, I'll check later on.

Well, they're not really that, just simplistic, nothing crazy like Gen 5 and Gen 3. Sorta just borderline.
There are some bad designs though, like Magmortar and well, uh.
I can't think of anything as ugly as Magmortar.

Plat has one of the best Pokemon soundtracks, its story is interesting without being bland or shoved in your face, it fixed most of the technical issues DP had, and the Pokemon are anything but uninspired - hell, people are constantly complaining about them being over the top (I think they're great as a whole). You don't have to love it but you have to admit it has a lot going for it.

The only decent fix was the surf speed, everything else was such a minuscule change that you would have to literally be autistic to notice it. On top of that it made some things WORSE like the save times.
