Make the moves branch like a tree to give them depth and make us choose rather than just making it a grind fest that's irrelevant at level 100 anyway.

Take the same concept with Gourgeist.
All pokemon can vary in size.
Depending on the size, have the base stats vary slightly, while still keeping the same BST.
i.e smaller pokemon have slightly weaker defense, maybe slightly higher speed, depending on what pokemon. Would decrease the amount of staleness, and increase the amount of unpredictability, making games more fun.
Thoughts?

That would be too complicated for kids these days.

I like where it would go and it would be sortof like an mmorpg where you choose your class and level it up and there's a tree of certain aspects of moves you can get.

Though Pokemon was always that simple RPG and I think the battle mechanics are fine.
Maybe a new weather type.

Such as Fog. For those who played gen 4 you remember the fog that was ohso annoying because you would occasionally miss. Defog would clear the fog so it wouldnt be thatbhard to get rid of, but 5 or so turns of less accurate moves would be a bitch. Smogon would ban it because it would be a haxfest all the time. Owell

More interaction between damaging moves and field effects.

For example, using Surf will end Sandstorm, or Needle Arm gains priority under Grassy Terrain.

I'd rather have more gimmick moves. Gen 6 was great with this kinda stuff but one big problem is that the distribution is really goddamn awful for most of this stuff.

The terrain moves especially could be really useful (electric terrain grants electric type attacks 50% more damage) and also stuff like ion deluge/electrify (this makes for a fun combo with electric terrain)

We need more terrains

Good on chart, terrible on realization.
Sweepers will use whatver the faster form is while stallers will use the big bulky one, aka the variety you wanted (pokèmon being able to get different roles thanks to the size mechanic) won't happen and will just make breeding more tedious.

What's the point when you can learn everything with the current mechanic? That thing would only cause pokèmon to have less moves.

Pokemon now have a chance to slip every turn. Once a pokemon has slipped, it can't do anything until the next round starts, and critical hits are more likely to hit a pokemon that has slipped. Fast pokemon will have a higher chance of slipping in battle

How about instead, something like in the Tales of games, you use two moves a set amount of times and then you get a new move which is a 2-typed move.

So say you use Water Pulse and Flamethrower 50 times on one mon, you then get Flare Pulse, which is a Fire/Water type move.

Flying types could be immune to it, same with the levitating mons. Ice types clearly need some nerfing though so make them shatter and faint after slipping
