to be fair, double genies are a pretty good lead. thundurus being immune to eq and able to t-bolt bulky water types + taunt or t wave other threats is great. unless your opponent has a fast icy wind lead or abomasnow but obviously you don't lead with them then

You could potentially run Icy Wind on it for utility and for residual damage/low health KOs, but you'll want Icicle Crash or at least Ice Shard too.

As far as I know, yes. I would be tempted by Sash to get more hits in or Life Orb to secure OHKOs (since most of its attacks are quite low power and it relies on super effective hits to KO). Luckily every metagame will always be filled with ice weaknesses.

What I'm quite tempted by is that Jolly swine caps at 145 speed and Adamant Lando-T caps at 143. Jolly Scarf swine is probably gonna be pretty weak in general but getting the drop on Lando might be worth it.

Easy mode:
1. Copy and paste teams from nuggetbridge articles or team rates in this thread
2. See what works well against other things.
3. Try making your own teams
4. Start breeding things on game, or just get other people to do it for you. There's always lots of distributions, and now injection works.
5. Start designing whole teams yourself. Start by just getting a good variety of move coverage, then start working to counter specific metagame threats.

Breeding probably takes an hour or so per Pokémon. I always do that instead of injecting, Powersaving etc.
Soft Resetting is a pain in the ass, it's more boring and takes longer. In theory if you're going for 5IV it'd take about 1000 resets on average.
Flawless or bust is bullshit, 90% of flawless Pokémon are hacked even before cloning.

Using a cookie cutter copy pasted team is the best way to learn the ropes. It lets you learn metagame knowledge first which will eventually allow you to think on your own. Watch VGC youtubers as well (Cybertron best example) as that's also a great way to learn

Neither of these thing takes a few minutes. SR especially can take days when you need to go for something like HP Fire or Flying. Breeding's only reasonably quick if you're going for basic spreads, when you need stuff like 7 speed IVs or 29 HP IVs it's either gonna take ages or you need hacked parents.

Breed for IVs until you have more than the original parent (let's say it had 2, switch in one with 3IVs)

I've bred legit for the past year and I'm sick of it. It takes 2 minutes to hack in a pokemon now so I don't see any reason to spend an hour training one from scratch. Not to mention I love being able to make duplicates so I don't have to switch sets and EVs around all the time.

Struggling to get out of elo hell, the people down here are horribly unpredictable while carrying shit I've never seen used and having the weirdest sets. It's really weird for me since I've performed really well at PCs (this is my first season playing) even beating worlds players and always top cutting. Just as soon as I start on BS it all goes down hill.
Also have this weird anxiety about my ranking that makes me kinda reluctant to play sometimes.

That's not the right replay, I think. Perish trap is kinda annoying to beat, but switching turn 1 is pretty good, since it can't Encore or Disable your mons on turn 2.
And try to beat the other mon, not the one that's trapping. There's a pretty good cybertron replay on his channel

I've actually been trying one with Rage Powder/Quiver Dance/Heat Wave/Protect
It's a gimmick, but being able to redirect special attacks into your boosted SpD is hilarious.
Most of the time you'll probably want Bug Buzz, Giga Drain, Roost or Will-O-Wisp over the quiver dance, and put a lot into HP and Defence.

The absolute maximum I would go for would be aiming for a stat of 192HP and 115Def (252HP, 236Def), which allows it to survive max Attack Land-T's Rock Slide every time. Oddly enough, even with that much investment, you actually get a more efficient use of nature by giving it lots of defence EVs and having a nature that increases SpA, SpD or Spe because of how low its base defence is.

Having Volcarona survive Kanga is really sweet too, since it has a 51% chance to burn with Flame Body.
I guess it depends on whether it's being used mostly for Rage Powder or if it's offence with the option of support too. It does miss a big chunk of damage with Bold, turning even Ferrothorns, Abomasnows and Scizors into potential 2HKOs with Heat Wave.

You're right, but I think Heat Wave wouldn't be a good option, since many of these mons and some of the fire-weak ones tend to have Wide Guard support.
The real question here is if Sitrus is worth it on Volcarona or not. And if you can get a burn, then Roost is a really good option.

I think it actually ties with positive base 110 at lv50 instead of out speeding like at lv100
Personally I've been running Jolly with 252 atk, 180 spd and rest in HP.
The speed puts you one point above max speed Whimsicott.

Use Soak on Shedinja and BAM, your opponent can't do anything unless they are packing Grass and Electric moves, Toxic/WoW/Perish Song or have Mold Breaker.
However, in order for it to work you have to take care of all threats first, Talonflame, Electric and Grass type Pokemon as well as Pokemon with a speed higher than 183.

I'll do some teambuilding later on and probably come to a conclusion myself, but do any of you have any suggestions for 4 really solid and hyperoffensive Pokemon to put in front? Right now I'm running with Talonflame and Mega Manectric, considering Mega Salamence but I'm open to anything as long as they are speedy and have ways of dealing with the aforementioned threats.

I'm not sure how much I would trust your gimmick, since WoW is very common in VGC, but I would try substituting Floatzel for a Scarf Volt Absorb Lanturn.. MegaMan + Scarf Lanturn got second place in California regionals last year with the idea being that Lanturn Soaks enemies to they're weak to electric and then Manectric either Volt Switches or Discharges for SE damage and para chance. Lantern would also synergize better w/ your Soaked Shedinja and resists both of talonflames STABs.

Passing on Sturdy is way too gimmicky IMO and feels like too much of a waste of party slots for something that might be shut down halfway through. Choice Scarf Lanturn might be good but 183 is still reasonably fast and lets me stall a few turns by using Protect + tanking hits with my Focus Sash while I wait for a good opportunity to switch in Shedinja.

I do like the idea about T-waving myself to gain Toxic/WoW immunity, I'll see if I can work that into my team somehow.

Generally, the idea is to have four "overused" and strong 'mons on my team and if I at team preview feel my opponents are lacking in ways to deal with my soaked Shedinja, swap two of those "good" 'mons for my gimmick pair.

Venusaur+Mega Charizard Y was pretty common for a while, what with it getting fast sleep powders and dealing fairly well against a lot of the rock and water types that can stop Charizard. Overall it just isn't bulky enough without mega to be a real threat a lot of the time, plus Charizard gets Solarbeam anyway.
I just wish Blastoise had good synergy with those two as well.

As a rule of thumb, it's nice to have more than one way to prevent TR. In addition to a Taunter, I also have spore amoongus, which can prevent TR from being set up. (Although it's arguably better to let it if Amoongus is inside).

Not that anon. I think your secondary mega should complement Charizard. Mega Mawile or Mega Metagross would be good choices, in my opinion. Ludicolo is good since it's a good check to rain by itself.
And Sunny Day isn't a bad idea, fighting weather with weather is never bad.

Everybody even approaching high level play has had flawless Pokémon regardless of whether injecting or powersaving was common. Cheating doesn't let them use Mewtwo or have 999 stats, and if it did you could put the battle video up and they'd be banned. Just use Cybertron's as a base and edit it a bit if you want depending on your team. That's what I did.

Spreads this time around are more difficult compared to VGC14, there's too much shit to be aware of.

I have a problem in that, when spectating other people's games, I can make flawless predictions for 90% of turns, and can even say them out loud so I know I'm not making it up

What do you guys think of this? It's the team I've been using on cart, except for Volcarona, which is a bit more offensive than the one shown here. Metagross was a last second addition, I had a Hydreigon before, and, as you can guess, no mega. It's pretty good, and I thought it was shit before. I'm always a little bit afraid of missing it's STABs since they have this terrible 90% accuracy. I'm seriously considering Iron Head instead of Meteor Mash if I decide to keep it.
My Aegislash currently has Iron Head instead of Flash Cannon since I can't find that god damn TM in AS nor I can find my Y.
My team is currently a little bit weak to Talonflame too, but it hasn't cost me a match yet.

Wide guard over sub on aegislash. Yes, go with iron head on metagross. I've not missed the 10 less BP, and the flinch chance is nice. And your team is not built to take EQs. Aegislash and lando are the only things with protect, but lando is immune anyway.

I have this problem whenever I switch from Showdown to Battle Spot. On Showdown I can win 80%+ of the matches, more or less, but when I switch to battle spot I start making obvious mistakes even during low rank battles.

Those HP bars with percentages and auto-overview of opponent's team have spoiled me waaay too much.

someone really should fix the timer on PS. you get into these incredibly annoying situations where you have say mawile as your last mon and the enemy in sucker punch range. Let's say you've got more health, in an actual game at a tourney you could very likely just spam sucker punch until the timer ran out since at that point in the battle it would likely have ran down quite a bit. but on PS you have to play these fucking annoying mind games because of its retarded timer

Problem is that move animations etc. are also much faster, so they couldn't have an accurate timer anyway.
Seems weird to me that actual VGC tournaments have a 30 minute time limit, while standard multiplayer matches used at Premier Challenges have 60 minutes, since I always seem to run close to the 30 minute mark.

I've noticed Trevenant is the only pokemon that can is immune to fake out, spore and can be immune to taunt. That means it is th only pokemon that will always use TR on turn one unless it's KO'd first. What do you think ?

You'll want taunt somewhere to help with amoonguss. I see safety goggles on aromatisse, but you'll still want more. Probably make tyranitar special or mixed, because you're weak to intimidate. Night shade over shadow punch on dusknoir, and dusclops/eviolite would probably be a better option. Or at least get rid of mental herb, because you already have aromatisse to get around taunt. And everywhere you have 248 or 8 EVs, you're wasting EVs.

It's really not that good for a TR setup mainly because not using it's Harvest is a gross misuse of it.

Furthermore you have overall lower defenses compared to Gourgeist, Dark Void is arguably the more dangerous sleep move compared to Spore even if not as common and if it's Taunt you want to avoid Aromatisse does it better since Fake Out is much easier to prevent.

I think most Trick Room teams really need some fast options too. Trying to have some that have good coverage and thus are usually safe choices to take out trick room counters would work best.
Off the top of my head, the two ways I'd expect people to deal with Trevenant would be to taunt it (most likely with Thundurus) or kill it (most likely with Bisharp or Talonflame). So, predicting those leads, how about Scarftar, Garchomp etc?

Rotom-W is something that easy to fit in most teams and does a decent job at it. Having Bisharp or Milotic can help pressure how the opponent plays it. Wide Guard stops it using its very strong EQ and RS. Rain modes pretty much stop it dead. Icy Wind's another good option with a more general application.

Landorus is way too bulky to die to those, especially with intimidate.
A lot of Ice Beamers have a decent chance to take it out, besides that there's just loads of things that kill Lando faster than it can kill them. Most water-types and levitators, for example.

Scarf gives greater sweeping opportunity though. With Scarf, you go first, kill something, then next turn still go first to hit it again.
With Yache Berry, you don't go first, take a hit, kill something, then next turn they can finish you off.

I don't know, Aegislash doesn't really sound like a good idea. It stays on the field for quite a few turns, and Intimidate is a real problem. WoW also goes through King's Shield, rendering it useless. If you want to support Charizard with Wide Guard, there are way better options. And too many special attackers isn't really a problem in VGC.
I think Timid Hydreigon loses a lot of damage, and it can't outspeed base 100s. Scarf Hydreigon is also faster, obviously. Sooo, I don't know.

You don't want two slots for pure Trick Room support, drop one.
Now you have two spots, use them for a Fast mode, never go out of your house without a Fast mode.
You may want to cover that rain weakness because hard rain shits on you hard.
You are also quite vulnerable to muh intimidate.
Made my own version of the squad. Latios and Garchomp were added to beat multiple archetypes and add a fast mode, Latios has Sunny Day to dominate the weather. Cresselia because it's the best TR user IMO. I added Iron Ball Tyranitar because Aegislash, Amoonguss, Ferrothorn and other beat Steelix and Tyranitar can Fire Blast them or Fling them hard. Changed Scrafty to personal preference. I will make spreads when I try it on cart.

I'm almost thinking of dropping crawdaunt, even though it's been great because there's a lot of times where crabhammer/knock off aren't a great combo. It can't touch megamence at all but it does usually OHKO specs sylveon so that's nice and strong priority is also huge

I think HP ground is not very useful on Dragalge, since you already have very good ways of dealing with steels i'd go for different coverage. if you drop crawdaunt, scald or hydropump could be better coverage than HP ground.
The EV's could maybe be optimized. i think on Camerupt you can get a better bulk by putting some of the HP EVs into your defense of choice.
Also, your team may not have a good time outside of trickroom. being so reliant on trick room is usually not a great idea since sometimes you just won't be able to set it.
Overall, since like a pretty solid team.

I got powersaves a few months ago, and I only used it once to see if it works on WiFi because I don't want to cheat.
I haven't committed myself to never using it again or anything, it just feels like I should save it for if I need something an hour before a tournament.
