Not really, that just makes the game more of a grind. Whilst I like grinding in JRPGs, most people don't and it wouldn't make the game harder, just more boring for most.

Just use the same AI for all the trainers as it's coded for the endgame. Also, after a few badges, the trainers you fight should start using a more expanded move pool for their mons. You go all the trouble of training yours, and teaching them TMs, and Egg moves, etc. What's to say the other trainers don't do that as well?

Could all be because pokemon is designed as a kid's game that supports more autistic play.
What is needed is the opposite.

also bull-fucking-shit, casuals don't do anything but grinding even when not needed, by the end game they would always have a party 20 levels above the champion

Give gyms non monotype teams.

Introduce the actual competitive game. 6vYourTeam every time. Doubles or Singles.
Shit like stealth rock is used. You actually can breed Pokemon by the end of the first gym. You get to choose more than from 3 Pokemon at the start.
Stealth rock is used in battles. Actual good AI that can predict Pokemon movesets.

You basically end up having a competitive team at the end which you built up over the course of the story but didn't end up steamrolling the entire game à la jolly garchomp.

Evil team is called the wolfpack.

Team leader is verlisify. On his quest to destroy the Pokemon league which is sponsored by the smogon university. Verlisify battles you in doubles. Uses double team drifblim, snorlax, slurpuff and other shitmons.

Just win using mega kangashkan aegi chicken and other "not broken" shit because the game is balanced by gamefreak from the start ofc.

I guess breeding makes you good at the game too huh?
