It was really, really good in pre-ban XY. Probably the best Pokemon in the meta. And it would go back to that status if unbanned.
It wasn't _broken_ though. It didn't tear through teams without any effort (a la M-Salamence or Blaziken) and it wasn't a team supporter that was practically impossible to stop from doing its job (M-Gengar, Deoxys formes). It was just a really good mon that you had little reason not to slap on any team.
About the only argument you could make is overcentralization, because it affected the meta a lot.
Lots of shit ran EQ just to hit it and some things it just walled completely and held down in OU (Medicham and Hawlucha come to mind).
But you can be centralizing without being overcentralizing and I think Aegislash was the former.
Overcentralizing is something like M-Kangaskhan, where every single team is either a Kang team, an anti-Kang team, or shit.
Aegislash didn't control the meta like that. It warped it a bit, sure, but that's okay.
