4x effective instead of 2x for the elemental trinity. Secondary stabs of SE (i.e., grass -> fire -> water) hit neutrally. Water 4x resists fire, but grass is only 2x resist and fire takes neutral from grass so it's not perfect.

Water, ground, electric would be cool. I don't mind the immunity breaking the triangle. You could just say the electric one turns into electric/poison so it can still do NVE damage and get fucked even harder by ground.

Steel-Fighting-Fairy would be fun too.

If you just give Ice resistance to Flying (which it should), you can do Flying, Fighting, Ice. if the idea of a pure Flying type that isn't named Tornanus bothers you, then make the Flying type Flying/Psychic in it's base form or something.

Actually, Bulbasaur rocked the dual type base form thing pretty well. I think more starters should do that.

The second one is not a true triangle though, since it is fucked up in the reverse order.
Psychic, Dark, Fighting is the most popularly mentioned trio, but that just shows how little people actually know.
I'm happy that they actually used this imperfect triangle for the Kalos starters' secondary typings. So that it will never be used as a true primary triangle, since it's not.

Rock or Steel starter would be really good in the early game because it resists all those early game normal attacks. You'd have to make it trickier by making, like, the first 2 gyms be stuff that's good against Rock or Steel (like a Ground gym and a Fire gym for Steel, or a Grass Gym and a Ground Gym for Rock) or else Steel or Rock starter would be Xtreme EZ Mode.

It's almost perfect, every one is 4x weak to each others' main FWG STABs. Fire has the advantage because it hits The Grass for 4x SE and the Water for 2x SE. But the Gras type completely walls the Water type. The Water type should be faster than the Fire type to make up for its vulnerability to the Fire type.

Fairy, becomes Fairy/Fighting. No idea what it would be.
Dark, becomes Dark/Water. Needs to be slow and bulky, to differentiate from Sharpedo.
Not exactly like it's always been, but the general idea is intact.

Always bothered me they never did this. Though, to be fair, Dark is kind of a lackluster Type unless you're fighting Ghost or Psychic Types.

What, I can't talk about one of my fondest old series?

I didn't want to blow a lot of money on a 3DS when I wouldn't play it as often as I should have, and I'd rather spend $200 plus $40 multiplied by X on things like groceries, gasoline and art supplies.

Besides, from what I've seen, Pokemon looks like it's taken a turn for the worst. Silly character designs, more convoluted evolution methods, too many gimmicks, intrusive story, etc.

Gens 1-4 were great for me. Maybe one day when I have a better income or play video games more often, I'll take it up. But not right now.
