Sometimes the VGC sets even show up at the top for Pokemon. Face it smogon does VGC and Singles and even their own doubles format.
How is being good at ubers, ou, uu, ru, nu, lc, for any number of gens not a good indicator of versatility when they're so much different each generation.
How is being good at singles irrelevant when its still pokemon. I can guarantee if some top smogon tourney players started playing VGC in official Nintendo tours they would do really really well.
