It works incredibly well. Make sure to activate the level release, use a lucky egg and exp point O-power.

You can probably get a pokemon from level 1 to 45 in a single battle.

just capture a shitload of dittos/pokémon that evolves through evolution/full evolved pokémon, put them on GTS and wait. It is easier than evolve every pokémon you need

It takes about 15 minutes to level up a full party of level 1 pokemon and it's a complete fucking bore.
