>>22731533Sheer force means that Nidoking effectively has 153 attack fully invested, or 130 sp atk when fully invested.
However, this only matters if the moves have secondary effects, as we all know.
Earthquake has 10 more bas power than Earth power, but gets no boost - meaning you either get 102 attack nidoking with EQ, or 130 nido with earth power.
Poison jab benefits from the boost, but is 10 BP weaker than sludge wave leaving very little difference between the two - and sludge wave hits multiple opponents.
So when it comes to STABs, special nido is the winner.
As Coverage moves?
Fire blast will do more damage than fire punch, that's a given. 120 vs 75 BP.
Ice beam is similar in overall damage calculation to ice punch. Same with thunderbolt.
It's not that physical nidoking is bad - it's more that you're only gaining benefits if you decide to focus on special. Superpower is the only move physical nido may want to run, and that doesn't benefit from sheer force.
