252 SpA Mega Blaziken Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Landorus-T: 164-196 (100 - 119.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
68+ Atk Mega Blaziken Low Kick (100 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Kangaskhan: 194-230 (107.1 - 127%) -- guaranteed OHKO
And it outspeeds Adamant landorus by one point, so it'll outrun the scarf set after a speed boost.

Other than that, run Blaze with a Rock Slider, it doesn't enjoy Talonflame or CharY.

I've had a terrible day today.
For the last two days, I've had 10W-0L with my newest team
Went on today, had four losses in a row, all to Japanese players, two of them involving gimmick whimsicotts (fake tears, Attract) and involving gimmick smeargle (Tailwind and Quick Guard).

It feels like all my prediction skills have gone down the drain.

EVs on Hariyama are wasteful, 124 EVs gives the same stat as 128. Adamant with no Attack EVs makes no sense either. Run 252HP/124Def/124SpD/4Atk/4Spe for a slightly better set, or run something like
252HP/44Atk/108Def/100SpD/4Spe to OHKO 4HP Kangaskhan, survive Double Edge from adamant Kangaskhan, and have good all-round bulk, including taking a specs Sylveon Hyper Voice when Assault Vest is factored in. I don't know if Kangaskhan is a problem for you, but you can find similar EV spreads to deal with whatever is a problem.

Sylveon is even more fucked up, 230 isn't even a multiple of 4. Go for 232HP/68Def/116SpA/52SpD/36Spe for all-round higher stats. I'm not sure what you're even aiming for your EVs to do. It's difficult to rate your team with these numbers just dropped out there.

yeahh i just put together pokemon i thought would work together and could take out some common threats (Hariyama being thrown in for some fake out support and to counter Heatran for ex) but the ev spreds (im not that great yet at calculating the best ones) were taken from various sets i found online. ill give them another look but how's the moveset for these guys? am i missing some coverage? i feel like i have pretty decent type coverage at least but im not sure. thanks

ive noticed yeah, i found myself not bringing in venusaur when i know ill need trick room. i threw it in the team because i was looking for a counter to rain teams and something to take out fairies (heatran had the type advantage to fairies but no flash cannon means i cant really take them down) plus i had no mega and venusaur's mega being thick fat grass/poison seemed to fit the bill. im looking at other options atm any advice would be great

We were looking into getting a Showdown chat room but I'm not sure we're a big enough community for it.

Salamence EVs let it survive Suicune 108 SpA ice beam

Rotom-H EVs lets overheat deal enough damage to 252 HP Aegis to prevent a substitute and OHKOs things such as talonflame and m-mawile

Suicune EVs almost always survives adamant m-kang fake out + double edge and OHKOs 44 HP Lando-T

Clefable survives m-kang, bisharp iron head and aegislash flash cannon

They look legit to the hack checks and all, but when you see them, you instantly think that they're injected, its like in 2013 when everybody had multiple shiny pokemon w/ perfect IVs and all that, and besides everybody goes for shiny + max contest stats to get those few extra seconds off the timer

I have seen people bring teams of a mega + 5 'soft reset' mons which where all 6 x31 IVs and shiny. I thinks it's pretty stupid to do that since I think TOs at PCs are allowed to DQ on grounds of suspected cheating. Why do so many people feel the need to go full shiny (I know timer stall) in a gen where it really looks like you're cheating.

Being able to OHKO Amoonguss or Mawile without them being able to touch you is such a great feeling.

And Rotom-H was like the only bulky Fire type last year aswell, and I think Rotom-W is on the rise again because of things like Terrakion or Lando who both shit all over Rotom-H

It's irrelevant if they genned or bred the team at the moment of the match, even more now that obtaining mons with the moves and stats you want is pretty easy. The only difference, if any, is that the one that genned the mons spent his time practicing and getting better instead of riding a bicycle or resetting in front of a pokemon. People like Ray Rizzo won Worlds because they were good at the game, not because they genned shiny 6IV pokemon

and while you might not like TR that much you don't need to take the full TR route, you can just use a regular team and use the TR when you know you are slower than your opponent

The big difference between sub-1500 teams and above-1500 teams is no longer that the former uses in-game teams, it's a lack of synergy and strategy. If you want to get higher, plan out your team, make specific leads and combos that work well together, as well as thinking about how to counter common Pokemon. Everybody on battle spot nowadays has good Pokémon, but most teams are just six random Pokémon picked from the top of the usage stats with little consideration for which ones.

So do you think it would be worth my time and money to go to my regionals? It's only 3 hours away but I've only been playing VGC for about a month. Noivern isn't super relevant, neither's Greninja or really anything until 115 with Raikou but that isn't super popular at the moment.
I'd probably drop it to 123 speed (196 EVs) for the creep on Adamant Bisharp. while outpseeding 252+ Raikou at +1.
That being said I think LO is probably the best option but Lum obviously has it's benefits.
Other things I'd consider, Rock Slide or Superpower over Crunch. I don't think Crunch is going to be very useful, you calc shows that even at +1 without LO you can never kill a no bulk healthy M-Gross.
Personally I think Gyarados will be the better DD user with it's greater bulk and intimidate. I think Gatr, like with CharX compared to M-Mence, can only strongly differentiate it's self with SD and for that You'll need Tailwind or Icywind support.

So I looked it up, and Feint lifts the effects of Wide and Quick Guard. Flygon is immune to ground attacks in case of EQ, but there are many other options as well as Flygon for feint/levitae. That's the puzzling part.

Really the most obvious relevant threat you'll be up against is a Talonflame speed tie. You have no place trying to outspeed a speed invested Whimsicott. Only way you can do that is to run Jolly and forfeit quite a lot of damage which no Talonflame can afford to give up.

Max speed Whimsi? No. Speed invested Whimsicott? Yes it is fairly common because it can actually speed creep Thundurus with plenty of EV's to spare.

Your main problem running Cloyster is going to be every steel type ever can shut it down except the SS version which can at least forfeit Ice Shard for water STAB.

In OU singles, Swords Dance Talonflame runs 363 Speed so it can outrun and OHKO Raikou with +2 Flare Blitz. (Jolly with 120 Speed EVs IIRC).

Other sets generally run 340 Speed to outrun Jolly Mega Pinsir. These are Talonflame's general Speed tiers, but I'm not sure how it'd change in doubles.

Hammer Arm + Iron Fist under Trick Room might be best, but on a regular team you could try something like Knock Off/Drain Punch/Quick Guard/Protect or Gunk Shot. Since Pangoro is uncommon people probably won't expect Quick Guard or Gunk Shot, but honestly, Scrafty is better for normal sets

The popular way to use it at the moment is Sash'd Iron Fist within Trick Room with Knock Off/HammerArm or Drain Punch/Protect/GunkShot or FirePunch but a lot of crap can do that role so much better. most people run 76 hp/252sp atk/180 speed which is a spread leftover from 2014, it lives a dclaw from jolly garchomp most of the time and creeps smeargle by 1 point. seems like a good spread for 2015, it's been working for me. if hydreigon becomes more popular later in the season you might wanna max out speed

Also, I've just realized the enormous movepool Togekiss has. Are Heat Wave, Magic Coat, and Aura Sphere any good? I haven't heard anyone talk about them, but I can see Magic Coat easily dealing with obvious Taunts, and Aura Sphere seems like a great Bisharp counter, provided I EV enough to outspeed it.

bold togekiss is good right now, held item usually sitrus. if you don't have another strong way of dealing with bisharp you might EV to outspeed and put aura sphere on your set. fire blast is probably better than heat wave. air slash is a must on every set for obvious reasons. follow me is a strong choice, you could surprise people by going offensive scarf. as far as the spread, I can tell you the togekiss I was using earlier in the season and had good success with was hitting a speed stat of 118, putting me comfortably above shit like rotom-w, mega venu etc.

Let me tell you something you piece of crap, you're wasting eight of your EVs there. You could have ONE stat point higher if you went 252/252/4, or even TWO stat points higher if you went 252/244/4/4/4.

Let me explain, At level 50 you need 8 EVs to gain a stat point, but because it rounds up, having 8x-4 gives the same boost as having 8x.
Since you're giving it a multiple of 8EV in two stats, you're completely wasting eight of your EVs! How can you not get this after I've posted it so many times? I swear to god if you do this one more time I will find out where you live and beat you to death with your own 3DS.

What's popular now is running semi TR, with 2 or more fast mons. Talonflame is a good option since it works regardless of the speed because of priority.

Regarding TR mons, popular ones are MegaCamerupt, MegaAboma and MegaMawile being this one good in and out of TR. Other mons could be Azumarill, Scrafty, Hariyama, Amoonguss, Aegislash and some other more niche mons like Escavalier, Marowak and Rhydon/Rhyperior.

It's up to you if you want to use 0 speed IVs and reducing nature, it can help you when playing against mons in the same speed tier.

If you want a more serious team I'd not run 5 water types. Not everything on your team needs to benefit from rain being up, especially since ZardY puts in so much work against you. I'd consider at least one steel type on every rain team, while it doesn't help your Zard matchup, it's just an important type for rain to carry.

Not many.talonflame obviously and I've had some success with braviary which gets defiant and that's super handy. It's 80 base speed though and that's the absolute maximum speed you should run in trick room

Well aside from having incredible defensive typing, adaptability really gave dragalge a big boost. I frequently OHKO shit like primal groudon with life orb draco. I always ohko sylveon with sludge bomb. Steel types are a huge pain in the ass for it though, but I use mega camerupt so I don't fear shit. Dragalge practically guarantees at least 1 KO a match if I don't use it terribly

Yeah, it comes up a fair amount when people discuss the merits of playing at lv50 instead of lv100.
Little Cup is where it gets most interesting though, being so close to the minimum damage makes Multihit and super effective count for more than they do at 50 or 100.

The team I have now is part TR, part mega gyarados, so I guess there's some central strategy. I was reading a mega altaria RMT yesterday, and the guy said he thinks people make the mistake of making a team to support the mega. If you're in a situation where you mega has a bad matchup, then the team as a whole doesn't function as well because it's geared to support that mega you're not bringing. Not that he's right necessarily, but it's an interesting thought.

At the premier challenge, Barry's Lieaprd was Black Glasses, Breloom was Focus Sash, Terrakion was Lum Berry, Cresselia was leftovers, Scizor was Scizorite, I didn't play against Thundurus.

i used a while ago a TR team with Cradily and Camerupt. It's a pretty good combo in the right conditions, as it lets camerupt stay longer on the field and make one or two KOs at least. I used cradily so i could deal better with the water types and HP ice on Camerupt to beat the flying dragons.

What do you guys actually do to stop trick room from happening? Taunt only works half the time thanks to Aroma Veil, Mental Herb, and enemy fake outs, you can't rely on fake out because of how obvious it is, and any decent opponent will have a counter for things that endanger their setter.

I run LO Escavalier on my TR team with Megahorn, Iron head, Drill run and Protect. it ohkos a lot of stuff that doesn't resists its stabs, and then can ohko other stuff with a helping hand boost. Plus it's also quite bulky.

Quick Guard's on the same mechanic as Wide Guard.
Unless he's on the lower part of the ladder I think it's safe to assume everyone nows the standard mechanics. I think anon just got read hard. Neither player seems to making safe plays, it looks like it's all predictions.
