RSE music was really bad, but FRLG was worse. Well it still is gen 3.
As for gen 4, the music was also bad. Sinnoh was the best, HGSS is tied for worst with FRLG.

The overworld music was good, but most of Gen 6's combat themes fell flat for me. GF got their shit together with ORAS' new battle themes (Vs. Zinnia and Wally) but the majority of the compositions in XY either bored me or were just "okay". Which is weird because this series is usually so on point with battle themes.

It didn't fuck my faith in Pokemon. I still think Gamefreak can redeem Gen 6 but I have no faith they'd able to deliver with Gen 4 remakes. They have a serious problem with trying to fix the most crucial problems with a region and I don't particularly care for the "let's pretend 3rd versions never happened" bullshit.
