Gen 2 was the best, FOR it's time. that said, few other sequels can match it, because it's basically two games in one. Is the level balancing in kanto bad? sure. does that take away from the experience? no

additionally, the color pallet used in these games is still one of the best I've ever seen

The game has problems, sure, but if you can't see why it's such a masterpiece then there is clearly a problem
