/vp/, do any of you know if any drawfags or other online artists imitate Sugimori's early style? Like gens 1 and 2, possibly 3? Because I love its distinctness and how anti animu it is, and I'd like to see more of it.

It's a very 80s-90s anime type, I'm trying to learn to imitate it myself, mostly because I like Sugi's old colour style.

While Toriyama is indeed a famous manga artist, his style isn't exactly what I'd call cookie cutter, even back in the 90's, much less nowdays when things are all moeblob.

Anyway, I never really got the Toriyama comparison. I've been a big fan of Toriyama and Sugimori for some time, and their works never really remind me of one another.

And Sugimori doesn't draw like he did back then nowadays either, so I don't get your point.

His style was never "anti-animu", it was just representative of its time and still is.
