I'd like to get back into Pokemon, but I can't find my 3DS anywhere or copy of Y anywhere.

I figure I might just buy a second hand 3ds and copy of OR/AS.

Would there be any harm in owning a second hand 3DS? Would I still be able to access everything in the game?
