So, now that we have mega evolutions, how long until we get DNA evolutions?

Also, what are your ideas on which pokemon should be able to DNA evolve and what they would make?

Oh come on. Just look at Nintendo's preference of 2v2s over 1v1s in the VGC. You know they're going to add another game mechanic for 2v2s sooner or later. DNA evolution does just that.

We already have it with Kyurem and the Black and White Dragons.

That said, I fully expect it to be a thing in the future.

Of course lots of pokemon that don't fucking need power boosts will get it.

What are you talking about? It counts as a new form, and for every new form a digimon takes, it's training cap is reset, and it can potentially get stronger.

I haven't played any of the video games, but I know how the original V-pets they started out as worked.

Although I don't think they will do it anytime soon.
I'd say at around 8 to 9th gen. Or, whenever the next handheld line for Nintendo comes out. (I'd be nice if they started using disks for one)

The only that you get right is WGreymon and MGarurumon, since they're already Megas, shit tier, but Megas anyway.

I think crossbreeding will come first. Maybe only like one evolution family (e.g. Breed Zangoose and Seviper while holding Calming Incense for a Normal/Poison type offspring)

Sadly the evolution process itself doesn't do that. Same with Mantine.

Maybe if Slowbro and Mantine were introduced around gen 3, they'd require a Cloyster and a Remorid respectively.

Maybe in the same Gen they inevitably remake B/W and B2/W2, since they could expand on the DNA Splicing/Absolfusion idea. It would have to be very limited, though, maybe only between certain Pokemon in the same way only certain Pokemon can Mega Evolve.

Well, obviously, needing to make 719x719 character models would probably be too much for GameFreak.

Digifag here. Technically mega evolution is closer to burst mode, because it's the same species, always temporary, and usually only adds spikes/hair/rupees.
Mega isn't even a level in Japanese.
