Aside from the golden face cross. If it had been silver, I'd consider it perfect. Maybe lose the chin spike, but that doesn't really bother me as much, and its part of the Metang design that helps make up the overall Mega.

The same thing happened to me Ampharos was my favorite pokemon ever since I saw it in gen 3 but then it got a shit mega and I can't even look at it anymore is so fugly I wish it never existed

Fucking pidgeot. He wasn't my all time favorite, but he was my go to flying type for years. Then I learned how to actually play pokemon and came to the revelation that Pidgeot was trash and had literally no potential whatsoever. Of course ORAS fixed this by giving it a mega and in turn giving me a reason to use pidgeot.

I'm glad we found our way back, fellow Anon. I've been a Flying trainer since I caught my very first Pidgey, and he was always one of my favorites. I was bummed as I grew to learn he was so horribly outclassed, even from the moment you can get Fearow. Other birds came and produced many favorites, but I still missed the original.

The Mega is a wonderful gift. It's not the strongest, but it is surprisingly effective at what it does and is pretty unique in it's niche. You have to pass on a number of more powerful Mega options, but it is finally a decent Pokemon in it's own right.

/vp/ likes to shit on it because it didn't get any moves for it's movepuddle, but in practice it's a surprisingly respectable battler. Hurricane is it's only trick, but it is a pretty damn good trick. The base high power and lack of drawbacks at that speed makes up for the lack of an item, and confusion hax help, too. Heat Wave is decently strong coverage, U-turn is welcome momentum, and Roost is great. It's really only a move or two away from being pretty great, but it is a good Pokemon even now. Pretty middle of the road as Megas go, not broken or gutter-trash. It would love Focus Blast, Sing, Boomburst, or some other craziness, but being genuinely viable is a huge step up for the original bird.

I'm a fan of Gengar but not a huge fan of M-Gengar. I still keep my ghost bro on my team but the mega slot goes to something else.

Gen 1 and 2 had some okay Pokémon, but I never considered any of them my absolute favorite. None stuck with me.
Gen 3 changed that by introducing this colossus. He's been my right-hand mon ever since, and no amount of shit covered cars will change that.

And that Mega is simply exquisite. In a similar manner that an anon complained just earlier; it's strong and useful, but not overpowered to the point where you'd look like a tryhard for using it. It's simply everything I could've asked for.

It's nice having a more personal pick for a Mega, but you still want them to be able to compete. Aggron, Pidgeot, Beedrill, Absol, and a number of others fall into that range where they aren't perfect, but they are solid enough to be worthwhile.
