It integrates Pokemon more into the series rather than using random items for no reason or vague shapes for things like surfing and other HMs. In terms of exposure to the series, someone playing Pokemon feels more like they're playing Pokemon now that they see more Pokemon everywhere. Rather than a kid in an empty overworld on a bike or something.

Virizion girl is my waifu though. I personally really mostly like it because that means the characters get some use. So neat designs like Robo-Groudon and Trump Card Lysandre can actually do something useful rather than appear for two seconds before they send out their shitmons.
I'm kinda all for the idea if they do it well. Pokemon's already comparable enough to digimon with Megas and Fusions. Might as well get silly with it so long as we keep turn based.
